Don't want to bump an old post, but for others that might have this problem and find this in a search.

High pitched vibration in steering wheel - Cheap wheel bearing I replaced failed shortly. Replaced it because a stud spun when I was using a ratchet to take off the lug nuts (!!!) Put new TIMKEN quality bearing on and the vibration was gone. Cheap crappy bearing did not spin well either. Drivers side bearing was a cheap one too I put on when trying to track down the problem but it was a different brand and is so far so good.

The out of balance shake was a sagged transmission mount. The transmission case (structural valve body side cover) was rubbing on the subframe causing the car to shake/shudder under certain loads. Replaced the transmission mount and that problem is solved.

So it's all good in the hood! LOL

Well, there isn't much clearance there to begin with... Maybe 1/2" if you are lucky with a fresh mount...

I can't recall how your mounts are for your 4t65-e swap, but I'm sure you don't have a whole lot of room either.

I suspect suspension and/or alignment in your case. You always rely on someone else for alignments and sometimes you'll get one that one day just says "close enough". If you have access to a digital angle meter you can at least check your camber relative to the rad support or some other spot that should be level. You 'should' be seeing 90 degrees since GM prefers zero camber.

I ended up with a little less than 5 degrees of positive camber last time. It's not much but you can see it from a distance.

Edit: Didn't see you resolved the issue. Good work!

stock mounts are used, though, the tranny has a 1/4 steel plate welded to the mount. the dog bone has been replaced with a modded upper mount from the Grand Prix/Lumina. i have a little less than 1/2 inch between the bulkhead and the steel plate.

5 degrees camber can be a lot, depending on what vehicle is being aligned. my Z is finicky. after 3 alignments (in warranty) i got to align it, and then it drove great.
