  • It happens........... How are you prepared?

Now that it was denied, how are you prepared? I truthfully have a few weapons with ammunition ready to go and I have plenty of canned goods. If need be, I have a generator enough to power the basics.

MI is going to be hurting terribly bad once every one realizes what happened and looters that were once "big 3" workers will come out of the woodwork.

Sure hope the 200B funded to the housing industry was worth it...... It will only get worse for people owning a home now.

Yea something like 3Million jobs lost if they close the doors. But most likely that wont happen. GM is so huge they can restructure and cut jobs to make ends meet. They wont be the car company we used to know. This time around they might be responsible.

From what I've heard GM is looking more at turning SAAB and Saturn into 2-3 model per company. Maybe even selling them since it cost them about $1billion, and 3 to 4 years, to phase out Oldsmoblie. Ford is looking into selling off Volvo. Chrysler may sell Dodge. Being that it's the most independent of their companies.

It was planned before hand. Cutting back on less popular models and production. Point is even 1-2 years wouldn't be enough time to save anything.

Nevermind... just read the sentence wrong. I read it that it would cost $1 billion to cut Saab and Saturn, and then AFTER that (in 3-4 years), phase out Oldsmobile. My bad... it was early.

Depends on what you consider American... I was reading an article about this the other day, and a significantly larger portion of "import" vehicles are built right here in the US, compared to the US automakers. About the only difference is where the end money goes. So, if you buy a domestic vehicle, it will most likely be built outside of the US, but American companies will get the money. If you buy an import, there is a good chance it is built here in the US by US workers, but the money goes overseas.

So, who do you want to support? American workers or American companies. I am domestic all the way, but it is an interesting dillema.

Well that is interesting yes. But id rather buy a gm or a ford and have the money go to the american workers. I just dont see the point in other countries sending there vehicles here for are hard earned money to end up over there. Im just more of less sayng support our own first. I also think of it ths way as well if it isnt made here dont bring it here we need to support american workers before supporting ppl overseas and putting americans out of work.

Then you don't own a TV, computer, coffee maker, (name any electronic device)? Almost anything electronic these days is made over seas. You can't just shut that stuff out.

Now both Ford and GM have most of there production outside of the US. You can't buy a domestic nameplate and have it help only domestic workers. So, as bszopi asked, who do you help?
