most of the time i get out of my ticket, i've gotten pulled over alot of times. its all about how you talk with the officer when you get pulled over, you just have read their personality and judging what you need to tell them to get them to roll in your favor, it takes practice, but its doable.
another trick is to give them a differ reason to give you a ticket, one trick is to take off your seatbelt, a seatbelt ticket is no points, this works pretty well.

Is this trying to get out of a ticket right when you get pulled over, or after the fact... If its right when you get pulled over, I just had a teacher (a lawyer at that) give a great way to do it... He told us in a negotiations lecture how he got out of a ticket doing 120 in a 65.

When the cop asks for your insurance card, say you don't have the card with you. don't say " I don't have insurance" as they WILL tow your car. Just open the glovebox when the cop asks for your insurance card and go through all the paper work then tell the cop that you don't have the card with, but you DO have insurance. You will most likely just get a ticket for no proof of insurance instead of speeding. Then mail in a copy of your insurance card w/ ticket to the courthouse and your done! The no proof ticket is way more expensive than a speeding ticket, so the cop will usually just issue that instead of a speeding ticket. I have done this the last 5 times I got pulled over and 1 time I actually got a speeding ticket( Knock on wood) and that was because the cop was a total asshole.
If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

Just take it to court. I've got out of two like that. I couldn't afford to pay the 105 in a 50 zone. So I went to court. The cop couldn't make it so the charges were dropped. Happens all the time. I had another ticket too, can't remember what for though, but I got out of that one too. Same way. Worst case senario, they will make you pay the ticket. Or you could get an expert witness, ie. a licensed mechanic who is your friend, to go to court and say that your speedo was malfunctioning. But be sure to have them tell the judge how responsible you were, because you went in the very next day to have your speedo fixed.

It doesn't make sense to me that not having insurance isn't a moving violation (you're driving with no insurance, albeit that's not truly the case in this situation, but you get what I mean?). It sounds brilliant written down, but it just occured to me - why wouldn't the cop give you BOTH tickets? That'd be a heap of money.

"Not ONLY did you not have proof of insurance, you were speeding too."

I don't care about getting tickets and paying money for them, all I care about is not getting points on the record. So, seeing as how people generally see ticket-givers as being greedy money seeking bastards, why wouldn't the cop just hit you with both tickets? That's a whole heap of money, plus a point on the record besides.

I'll start by saying, I have LOTS of speeding tickets.

I got pulled over driving my friends 2000 mustang, the car just had the little tag in the window, no insurance card in the car, and it wasn't my car, he was letting me drive it down to where he was trading in his truck, had to finish some paperwork or some crap like that, anyhow, I was doing 80 in a 55, I came over a hill and saw the cop sitting his little spot in the center of the highway so I just pulled over right in front of him because I knew for a fact he had me locked in and when the cop pulled up to me he first asked if I knew why he pulled me over, and I responded with "do you know why I was pulled over before you had your lights on" he started chuckeling and responded with something to the effect of how he had me lockedin at 79 and then he asked me how my driving record looked, I asked him "how much time you got" he started laughing even harder, and I kept bsing with him, untill he just wrote me a "written warning"

sometimes making them laugh, and have a good day is better then tryin' to play too stupid.

I've also noticed that State Troopers are often way more easy going then city cops.

Here is what my lawyer teacher had to say...

You have to make a cop feel comfortable. A cop wants to go home and see his family after a days work, and nowadays traffic stops can be just as dangerous as anything they will encounter during their day. To do this, make the cop feel safe. Basically, when you get pulled over, if on a highway, slow down to slightly below the speed limit and try to get to an exit or somewhere away from traffic. If no close exits, don't just pull onto the shoulder, but off into the grass. Try to put something in front of you (light pole, etc) so that when the cop pulls up behind you, he has basically blocked you in. Same applies to in town. Pull into a parking lot and block yourself in. If its at night, pull into a well lit area and turn on your interior lights. Once you get pulled over, turn off the car and blatenly take the keys out of the ignition and set them on the dash. Then place your hands at 10 and 2 and wait for the cop to come to your car. Once there, he will ask for your license and insurance. At this time, go to reach for it. Don't do it any sooner because if he sees you moving around inside the vehicle prior to coming up to it, he may feel endangered. So basically, make him feel as safe as possible and he will be more willing to negotiate with you. BSing also goes a long way, but you have to start off on the right foot from the start.

Don't speed at high velocities...Be nice and responsive to the Officer.

Alot of times they will just let you off with a warning or give you a 10 or less over the limit> ticket.

bszopi has it down to the T.

most cops want the easy way out , an insurance ticket will ensure that they will have nothing further to do with the ticket, a speeding ticket may require more work from them, also for those military folks out there, flash your military id with your liscence, thats gotten me out of a few, espicially since NY state, you dont have to renew your liscence on active duty, so i have to show mine. it workes 9 out of 10 times.
                          or just dont get caught

Military is always a good pull. We were always told to hand them our DL and military ID when we got pulled over. Now that I'm out, I can't do that anymore. BUT, Kansas has Veteran's license plates for military veterans. I have one on each of my vehicles, and the couple times I have gotten pulled over, they have asked about what I did in the military. Many cops are ex-military, so they are more willing to let fellow veterans or current soldiers off easier.

In Indiana, the cop doesn't need to be in court for the ticket to stick. When I got busted for 113/55, the cop was a complete asshole. Hell, I had even pulled over before he got turned around and he didn't have to chase me. They don't even ask for insurance anymore here. The court sends you a paper that you take to your insurance company and they fill it out and send it in. If you don't, your license gets suspended for 3 months. Elkhart City and County cops are extreme pricks. Everyone that I know that has gotten a ticket here that has lived somewhere else says the cops everywhere else that they have lived are way more nicer/cooler then our cops. This area sucks balls.
