  • 2.8 vs 3.8

I have an 87 ciera with a 2.8, i would like to keep it but on the other hand i would love to rebuild a 3.8 and drop that in. Anyway is the 2.8 worth keeping, and can it be turned into a performance motor im lookin to make this olds kind of a sleeper...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

A 3X00 Swap would blow a 3.8L out of the water. It would be lighter, faster, better power, cheaper and easier.

agreed. the 2.8 with it's short stroke will need rpm for power. with a bigger car you'll want torque. a 3.8 is good for that, but swapping in a 3400 will be easier and can easily have the same torque at the 3.8.
