  • hand build lambo!

Seventeen years ago, Ken Imhoff watched Cannonball Run and became so enamored with the Lamborghini Countach in the film, he hand-built his own, in his basement. In what we imagine might be the most Jalopnik build ever undertaken, Ken designed and fabricated his own tig-welded frame, installed a thoroughly massaged…

That thing is sweet, hands down. The only critcism I have is he used a Fram... On a side note, anyone notice those headers snaked over from one bank to the other?

Those are the best headers for a V8. Remember on every V8 you will have 2 cylinder fire on each bank one after the other. For example a Chevy with a 18726543 will have 2,6 and 1,3 fire on the same bank one after the other. So when you consider the exhaust you will have a header on each side with 4 pulses. On conventional headers you would have 2 pulses spaced further apart than the other 2 which causes a rise and fall in velocity. But if you bring in a port from the other side of the motor you can effectively even out the pulses and keep the exhaust velocity constant and help increase scavenging and in turn your total power. It may also help to balance out fuel mixture from cylinder to cylinder.

It also made it sound really nice at higher RPMs when he rev'ed it.

Wow, I had an orgasm reading that thread.

Those headers remind me of a set I saw in Grassroots Motorsports mag a couple years ago on an sbc Datsun 240 that a guy built for their $200x challenge. Fucking amazing things that a set of headers can do, they can be even more amazing when made by a true craftsman of the highest level. I bet those headers have fire pin tips on the collectors.
