Car:
1991 Grand Prix GTP
Power door locks cease to work. They do not work via the switches on the door or the key fob. It has an aftermarket keyless system that replaced the original system and was wired into the original system harness. It has worked flawlessly for years until today. I used the fob to unlock the car, drove about 5 miles, parked and the power locks would not work. All the fuses in the glovebox appear OK as do the ones under hood. What fuse pertains to the door locks? Obviously nothing is labeled "door locks." When I press the button on the door I think I hear the click of a relay underneath the glovebox. Also, the keyless entry 'armed' led light does not light up when I press the arm button nor does the keyless entry trunk release button work. The in-glovebox trunk release button does work. This leads me to believe that the following items have no electricity: power door locks, keyless entry system, power antenna (see below). Everything else seems to work OK including interior lighting, radio, dic, dash, etc.
2 other very odd coincidences:
1) Power antenna is stuck up. The power antenna motor does not run. Perhaps related to the power door locks not working? same power source? though since all fuses seem ok maybe this isn't a fuse issue? The antenna in-operation happened at the same time the locks stopped working.
2) Also, the brake light fuse blew. I replaced the fuse and they work as normal now. I think this may be due to when I got my alignment done the other day. They put some kind of bar to hold the brake pedal down and since they had some problems with the alignment the brakes were applied for well over an hour and probably closer to two. The 15amp fuse looked melted like it got too way too hot. I'm thinking that the brake light fuse was a result of the brake lights being on for two hours and has nothing to do with the power door locks or antenna but thought I would mention it just in case. The fuse may have even blown the other day and I just so happened to notice now. I'm chalking the brake fuse up to pure coincidence.
sorry this got long but I'm trying to be thorough. Any advice, things to check etc appreciated!
