  • heat soak reduction kit (or IAT relocation)

Ok, check that out, and then check this out.

Does anyone else think this is just a connector adapter with a separate IAT used during the OBD1 years?

Yep, looks like a 3rd gen Cavalier IAT.

Makes sence i guess.. but the real solution is not to let the MAF get heat soaked in the first place. Some header wrap works wonders. Dropped my intake temps by nearly 20F.

I can go for a drive on a hot summer day and my TB is actually cool to the touch, the plenum is usually only warm. Intake temps are usually very close to whatever the outside temp is that day.

i wrapped my intake tube all the way from the fender to the throttle body with this stuff refelctix and my intake temps stay pretty close to ambient. even when at the track they stayed pretty close to the hot and muggy heat that day

read about people using this stuff somewhere on the interwebs and it really does work.

I would think a CAI kit and a relocation of the MAF sensor far away from the engine near the filter would be the best solution. You would just have to extend some wires. Possibly heat wrap it too and your laughing. $100 for a sensor and some plugs seems rich.

Sounds to me like somebody has there IAT located above an exhaust crossover. Move the IAT about 2-3" away from the crossover and you won't need this kit.

I need to know how slow the older IAT sensor is. I really wish I had a car I could scan here. Would make things easier.

Mines not too slow. Seems pretty accurate from what I remember when I was scanning and driving with the laptop.

I don't know about the older sensor. But I do have a scan from my GA after moving the IAT. Now if you would just allow csv files to be attached....

This does you no good if your IAT is already seperate from your MAF.... And my IAT will read 130+ when staging at the strip, or at least it did in canada... I think its getting blow off from the radiator and I need to isolate where the filter is more.

the IAT is very fast, it's the computer that's slow on sampeling the voltage.

i get about 120F intake temps in the staging lanes, once i get moving they drop to 90 or so though...

here is a datalog of mine from last week with the original 1991 IAT in it.
