  • Hello from northern Illinois

Hi there everyone. I just joined this site...been lurking around for a few weeks now, and decided to join up. I've been a member on fullthrottlev6.com and f-bodyhideout.com for quite a while now, and found this site through there.

I've got a 1990 3.1 automatic Firebird. Soon I'm going to swapping in a 3.4 shortblock, with a 3400 upper end. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions when I finally get down to it.

In the meantime...anyone else from northern Illinois on here? I'm from Dixon...which is about 45 miles south of Rockford.

Im quite a ways east of you, but welcome. The only time I am out that way is to visit friends at NIU (which is still way east), or at Byron dragway which isnt too far from you. Do you already have a top end for that motor? Ive got one Id part with for fairly cheap, and we could meet up at the track sometime, so no shipping to deal with.

Ohh, post up some pics of your car as well.

I am in Loves Park, on the notrheast side of Rockford. I have a co-worker who lives in Oregon, and I work in DeKalb. I also have a few business clients in Dixon, so I'm in the area.

Yeah, I make it up to the Byron strip a few times a year usually. I'm planning on going there next weekend I think actually...not with a car though unfortunately.

No, I don't have a top end yet. I've managed to find a couple...but it would be nice to not have to worry about shipping...

I don't have any pics of my car at the moment...I'll try to get some in the next few days though. It's nothing real pretty to look at currently...but that's something that I'll be taking care of after I'm done with the engine swap.

whens the next one coming up? Is it a Ford only day or can you bring other makes as well?

Me and my dad have an 87 Monte Carlo SS street rod that we run up there sometimes...it's mainly just a street toy, but you've gotta run it down a strip every now and then.

It's by no means a stock Monte SS though. It's got a built 350 bored .030 over. It's got a B&M supercharger and a 150 wet shot of nitrous. It's all running through a Richmond Gear 6 speed and a Ford 9" rear end with 3.27 gears.

            Here are some pics...

Hell yeah bring it down! Looks badass! Six speed too? Have track tires? You're going to spin all day with them.

No the Ford Fun Day is NOT Ford only. You're just going to see a lot of Lightning's and stuff all in the mix. Hell there is always a big mix at Byron. The schedule at Byron doesn't sa when the next Fun Ford Day is, but I'll see what's up. I'm not looking at going anytime soon, because I'm probably going to have fun in St. Louis when Pinks All Out goes to The Gateway.
