Deception and its heavy price

I don't even want to get started on this. This is kinda what happened to my brother.

My brother was 20, and not only did he screw a 15 year old, he got her pregnant.

Her parents told him that AND I QUOTE "If you don't marry her and take her off of our hands, we will make sure you go to jail." Her parents didn't even like her, and she was only a 15 year old girl.

Turns out she had done this in the past, got pregnant, and told the guy that he had to marry her, but after she had a miscarrage, he dumped her, and said "your word against mine".

now, my brother is married to a woman he does not love, and has 2 kids with her. He would do anything to be able to leave her, and find a good woman who is not a lazy you-know-what (insert word for female dog). Only thing is, she has said that if he leaves her, he will never see his 2 kids again. It is not so much as he is worried about the courts taking her side, but more that she will just disappear, and take the kids with him.

Yeah she lied to them, but they also knew something was wrong. When your 19 you don't ask someone their age if you think they are already over or close to 18.

We don't know that there was any suspicion before hand. Kids that adopt a life of the streets and canivary tend to age a bit more than actual as a consequence of hard living. These guys certainly don't have kids old enough to give a hint as to how far a teenager can go to cross the line. Picking a man up from a corner certainly doesn't sound 13 ish to me.

Don't get me wrong here. I don't condone what the parents are doing. But just because you apologize for what you did, doesn't mean your off the hook. Sometimes life sucks and this is just another example.

I believe in all fairness the focus should be on 'Why he did' instead of what he did. His mistake was caring enough after the fact to inform her father of what she was doing.

Lets not loose sight of rational in the wake of youthful misconduct. We have 13 year old cold blooded, calculating murderers now. In terms of understanding her actions and the consequences thereof, how is she any less accountable than they are? when except for age at the time of the crime, they have little alternate excuse.

The age at which understanding that death means forever is around 6 years, the definition does not change as you get older, dead is still dead. Perhaps the law needs to be changed to function fully on level of competency in these circumstances. Here she'd be a criminal because she has already met the criminal intent charge by lying in a second identical case knowing full well what the consequences are for what are victims. Just because it's law doesn't mean it's right.

We don't have all the facts unfortunately so their could be something missing that would change all of our opinions to "they're right where they belong". Regardless, she still needs to be stopped because her behaviour borders on pathological and could digress to something even more sinister. As awful as it sounds, she would make the perfect serial killer at 13, since the parents and courts don't seem to think she is responsible in any appreciable way for what she's doing now.

MAYBE if the girl had her myspace page listing her PROPER age and they still persued it then YES that would be a reason for locking them up but if she is baltely lying about her age its not their fault... There is nothing in that article saying she did "adopt a life of the streets and canivary." But it does say this.

Lying qualifies as conniving, and sleeping with strangers you pick up off the streets falls in the catagory of street life. It is to suggest she is living an unhealthy lifestyle which I hope we all can agree on.

There is no indication whatsoever to substantiate one way or the other in the article that they did or did not know or suspect she was under age.

Your're getting the wrong message from what I'm saying. I'm not blaming the kid for anything, just stating she should be held accountable, not allowed to continue as she is.

I strongly disagree with you regarding the what and why and how it relates to getting you in trouble. They are probably equal if not unequal in favor of why, because it is what you do that gets you in trouble and most certainly why that determines whether you remain in trouble. Case in point;

Two adult men are in jail for having sex, why? because it was with a minor. If they were younger than 18 they would not have been prosecuted, why? because they would also have been under age. "Why" is very important in judgement where the burden of proof is not in question, because if it didn't matter there would be no justification for a trial. You would go strait to jail. "Why" is the essence of determining whether you really committed a crime in the eyes of the law anyway. There is a reason for everything, be it right or wrong.

I never referred to that kid in a derogatory sense, and the serial killer analogy is to suggest a point that I thought would be grasped without being spelled out. This kid has a serious problem that can cost her her life, or digress to something more pathological and criminal as she gets older. There is absolutely nothing normal about a 13 year behaving in the manner that a child predator does; falsify personal information in an effort to engage in an inappropriate encounter with someone they shouldn't.

Suggesting she may not know what she is doing is wrong, is an even further stretch than stating that she could be a perfect serial killer (I didn't suggest she would be). This is the second time remember, trust me she knows.

The age of sexual consent in South Carolina is 14. What do you believe the age of sexual consent should be? because currently you are allowing the state to decide that moral aspect for you in which case if your state decided to lower it to 13 tomorrow you would have no support for your argument other than the kid being retarded.

Read the last paragraph in the post you took issue with stating there is probably info we do not have that would change all of our opinions. I posted this article as a heads up and beware to those who might be at risk. We are entitled to our opinions and I still stand by mine after re-reading. VD is a blessing as well as small time. The HIV infection rate amongst Black women in Miami Florida is purported to be 1 in 5. Taking that into account and the likelyhood that the two prosecuted are just the two that got caught, if she does contract a disease she could be putting the population at risk depending on how active she is.

There is so much more to this than just bad judgement because others who have nothing to do with it can suffer for the rest of what could be their short lives.

Joseph, what your getting wrong is I'm blaming both parties. Basically, I just can't see focusing only on one side and saying they are the only people at fault. Sex with a 13 year old is still against the law even if coerced. That still stands true even if you don't agree with law, which I think is your problem. If so, then you should be complaining to your local congressman about the laws involved in this case, not me. But if she is purposely trying to get guys in jail, then she is sadistic and should be doing time as well. The problem is you have to prove this in a court of law. Not something thats easy to do. I also think your taking things way to far with the whole "killer" line of thinking. But to end this, I'll just agree to disagree.
