I am reposting this in hopes that someone has had the same problem and has found the cause. My door locks in my 94 Cutty Supreme SL Coupe keep making noise. Chattering like a bunch of Quail. When it gets really bad I have to unlock the doors manually. Is there a relay that could cause this? The owners manual and the Haynes Manual do not mention one. Just a fuse. I could replace everything as Redhead suggested, but, if it is as simple as a relay or the pickup for the door remote, I would really like to save labor and money. Fortunately my sound system is loud enough to cover the noise, but, this is not a proper repair. (Does work for a nagging wife though.)

I had a GP one time that did that chattering. A dealer suggested I replace that relay. I never did get around to finding out what the problem actually was tho. Traded it off on a Monte Carlo. Does yours seem to do it more when it gets hotter in the cabin?2004 Grand Am GT 3400 ... I had the right to remain silent, I just didn't have the ability.(Ron White)

Actually it has a mind of it's own. I thought it did it more when it was damp, but, now it chooses it's own time. Maybe a poltergeist? Do you know where this relay is located? If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

WHEEEEE! I Found the little F.....r!
I found the relay that has been causing all my woes!!! Tricked the car into thinking it was moving. Traced the noise with a stethescope. Of all the places to put it..... GM mounted it under the drivers side rocker panel plastic cover, underneath the carpet, buried inside the wiring harness. They must have thought this part would never fail. Relay part number is VBA 2016, Made by Potter and Brumfield. Replaced this relay and all the lock noise quit. Doors work perfect as does the remote keyless! What made it so hard to find was the door locks made so much noise that it masked the sound of the relay clicking! Happy Day!!! I'm happy, the Cutty is happy and my wife is happy 'cause I can quit cryin' about it!If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

About 1' in front of the hood release lever, next to the drivers seat. Under the plastic cover.I'm not a body man,I call it the inside rocker panel cover for lack of a better term. Correct me if I am wrong. (I'm sure someone will.)If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

Actually it is part of the floor pan, right at the edge, under the first 4" of carpet. About 8" in front of the hood release. Remember this is on a 94 Cutty Supreme, your model may vary. Neither Haynes nor Chiltons show this relay or even talk about it. Hope this helps someone in the future. If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.
