  • Air Intake

Hey guys. I just joined here a little while ago. I recently bought a '93 Lumina Z34 and I was wondering if anyone made an aftermarket intake for it.

    TIA

easiest to make your own custom intake. i used to make them along time back. its easy to do. its easy to make. I used 3" Mandrel bent exhaust piping in and cone filter. other guys use PVC drain pipe from home depot (i personaly think that looks tacky)

I've heard you don't want to use PVC because of something to do with gases it releases when it gets hot? Not to mention, it sits right over your crossover pipe, which on a really hot day stuck in a traffic jam could possibly melt, making a potential fire hazard.

I think you're SOL for the intake unless you make one. Dont use any sort of plastic like material, plastic doesn't dissipate heat all taht well. Use an alloy material or at worst case scenario, use steel. If you use steel, make sure it's mandrel bent! None of that ripple/press bent junk.
Too bad you lived in FL, I would have been able to make you one. Matter in fact I have made one for a 3.4tdc not to long ago, but it was for a 96.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm gonna have to find someone around here that can fab one up for me.

What are typical mods people do to these? Performance, body work...whatever.

You can do the 6/6 timing, FWCAI, tune (since you're 93) , then move onto exhaust and suspension. Make sure your car is up to par before you start modifying anything.
