As far as I have heard, the AWD 6000's came in only automatic. I assume that could be untrue but, supposedly it was an auto-only setup. I have never seen a manual tranny one either, and, believe me, I look.

you'd have to make a driveshaft tunnel under the passenger side of hte car (the driveshaft is offset to the pass side slightly.
you'd have to make a large hole and tunnel area around the passenger foot well (the diff bolts to the side of the transmission where your drive axle fits in on teh pass side.
then you'd have to mount the rear axle somehow in the back.
for those rear axles they are not full time AWD. they use a Viscous coupling axle that ONLY sends power to the tire that needs it. so in some cases you'd only have 3 wheels griping if need be or all 4. or most of the time only a 2wd setup running.
for launching i guess it would be adventagous and then cool as once your rolling your only running on the front 2..
but that is alot of work to use one of those Uvan and Aztec running gears.Colin

It's correct in stating that you could only get a Pontiac 6000 AWD with an auto. The transfer case was a sorta integrated bolt on to the THM125C that came on plain jane 2.8's. You could probably put AWD any car, as it's all going to require quite a bit of fabrication and custom work. 6000 AWD are getting rare for parts.
On the 5 speeds, you could get Celebrity's and Pontiac 6000s (A-bodies) with a 5 speed on a 6 cyl. It came around when the Fiero's got their 5 speeds in 86.5. The 5 speed on the A body was available in the 1987 and 1988 model year. I believe it was limited to the sportier option groups, and I have personally seen an 88 Pontiac 6000 Station Wagon with a 2.8L 5 speed.
4 speeds were available during most early production, but later limited to 4 cyl and stopped when the 5 speeds showed up. I'm not aware of a stick being available for Buick and I have no information on Olds.Ben
