  • its been fun but.....

after burning a bunch of valves and taking out the guides in the heads, ive decided to call it quits. last week the car died on my way to work, had to have it towed back home, and was over 2 hours late for work. after the 5th time on the hook since febuary, all for different reasons (only one actual engine problem), i cant call it reliable enough to daily drive anymore. i have no shop to work on it in, and driving it during the week and fixing it on weekends in the cold without a shop. ive been looking for a place to rent to work on the car this winter with no luck, and i look at what its gonna take to become happy with the car, and its just not worth it anymore.

the car is getting parted out, i have much of it sold locally, however what i dont sell in a short time ill throw up here.

as for me, within a couple days i should have my new car, its a gm but isnt a 60*v6. ill still be around though

I was going relatively fast thru a school zone and was caught. However, I managed to zip into a neighborhood and evade the cop. Could I get additional tickets by trying to run?

the old car was just cauing me way to many probelms, i was tired of it. hardly any of it was motor (aside from this last time), most of it was associated with a 21 year old car.

on to new and better things, its a cobalt, but not a base model

2005 ss supercharged, gm stage 2 upgrade (rated at 246hp), 2.85" pully, header, 3" exaust, urethane motor mounts, torque damper, lowered. it drives ausome, and i love the blower whine.

Sorry to see it go, so much more potential than in the gaybalt, but I understand the need for reliability. Plus I'll never forget your napalm hot 1st gens, they changed the way I look at those cars. Hopefully you pull of something equally as constructive with the Suckballs, but I doubt that'll happen.

hey hey stop hatin on the cobalt. as much as i love the older gm fwd stuff, im really tired of dealing with the older car issues right now. basicly what i was spending modding/keeping got the cobalt and not a 660 powered gm, well, i looked long and hard at a g6 gtp, problem is i dont have that kinda cash. nothing else gm really sparked my interest.

the cobalt has a lot of potential. right now guys seem to get very close to 300hp with bolt ons/tuning. from there on itn your at the max on rods and pistons, may aswell throw headstuds in it at that point, but with the twin screw lysom blower upgrade a guy is working on, at 17psi its putting down 323 whp, and does it with 20* lower intake temps than the roots blower at 14psi.

Hey I don't blame ya, if I was tired of the same stuff I would probably buy the same damn car.

You could have went for the 08 turbo model!

i honestly dont think the turbo car is going to be as good. first off, everyone is asumeing its going to have the forged wheels, brembo brakes and y rated tires, i dont think itll happen, not without pushing the price of the car way up. also when it comes time to service that stuff, the price is huge. the next thing is the upgradability of it, it already runs 20spi to get the 260hp, its not like you can throw a boost controller on it and up the boost. also its direct injection could limit the potential of the motor as an injector swap isnt easy and not readily avalible. honestly in the end i think either the ss/sc or ss/tc will both level off around 300hp without going to far into the motor.

Well,Sharkey, guess you finally got your FI, too bad it wasn't in a 660 .

Hope you stick around and keep helping, last time I raced a Cobalt, I got my ass handed to me - but then again I was N/A with the 3.1 in a 3400lb car , I thinkhe ran a mid-14 (2.6x 60'), but would have to check the timeslips.
