Since the MG needs a pump anyway, what would it take to use the stock 3500 rail and injectors and make it returnless? Just the pump and lines?

a returning fuel system is the best way, and fuel flowing across the rail and having no dead ends would be the best. however people argue that the vette uses the returnless system at 500hp.
basicly you run a normal fuel pump, a regulator near the tank, the return back to the trank and the feed up to the rail. dodge has been doing this same idea since the late 80s.

Look at the pictures toward the end and you'll see the adjustable regulator that I used to convert my fuel line to returnless to use the 3900 rail. You may get a better discription in the thread on the Fiero forum since there is no discription in the gallery for the pictures. The process was easy since I was able to use the OE fittings on one end of the regulator. The static pressure sits at 50 psi, I haven't tried to adjust it up to the 60 psi I plan to run yet.
