  • Need a little help

Hey all, does anyone know of a site like this one, only dedicated to chev small blocks?

I just got myself a cheap fiero and I'm considering into doing the 350 swap detailed on v8archies.
This site has helped me so much with my 3.1 cavalier, I can only hope there's a similar for small blocks.

    Thanks for any help,

    Rob

specifically for the SBC's... I dunno. I am a member of one site that is for 82-92 F Bodys, which came with the SBC. you can try there. www.team3rdgen.com . Also try www.thirdgen.org ....... other than that I dunno.... What are you wanting to know about a SBC?

      Hey thanks for the reply,

I'm pretty much looking for examples of rebuilds that people have done.

I'm looking to get as close to 300hp as I can for as cheap as possible (well, as cheap as possible with it not blowing up). I currently have a 350 sitting in an old pontiac pariassian (sp) and plan on getting that checked out and rebuild it if its not absolutly shitty.

For a cheap, reliable 300 hp..... keep your compression around 9.5:1, Vortec cast iron heads, (example) Edelbrock performer dual plane intake, and a decent cam.....(260* advertised duration range) I'll guarantee you 300 HP is easy with that *basic* combo. it won't be a high rever.... about 5k to 5,500 RPM will be tops.... but you will have killer off the line torque and around 300 hp around 3,500 to 4k rpms. Vortecs flow EXTREMELY well at low lift, which is why they make so much torque. (.200" to .300" lift is where they out flow almost all other heads, even stock)

my buddy made 300hp and 410tq with his 350(hp # is low cause it dropped off big time at 5000 cause the dyno operator said his stock 5/16 fuel line restriced it)

          4 bolt bottom end(not necessary)
          stock crank + rods
          kb hyper pistons, 9.5:1
stock off the shelf 350 vortec heads
          vortec performer rpm intake
          comp cams XE268H hydraulic cam

Oh, and a 650 CFM 4bbl carb woud fit it nicely for 300 hp, and streetability. if you ever wanna get closer to the 400 hp range later, take a 750cfm 4bbl. it'll need some detuning to get it down for the 300 horses, but atleast you wouldn't be buying a carb twice lol
