  • '92 LUMINA Z34 - front right wheel stuck

Don't know where this should go but here goes...

Going to check out a 92 Lumina Z34 with a right wheel
that won't turn. Dude selling the car said his GF
was driving it then heard a clicking that turned
to a clunking then it seized up. I'm thinking stuck
caliper but could be an axle issue. Anyone care to
    share their knowledge or experience?

Take a look at it. It probably is a CV axle if it was making that noise, unless the wheel bearing failed. But if it won't turn then it's probably the axle bound up. I don't think a broke tie rod end would cause the wheel to click like that....

      car's only got 100K but I believe
      you're right. hope it's a brake or
      bearing issue though.

could easily be a caliper abutment bolt that came out and now the caliper is stuck in the wheel. try it in reverse. or the CV.

id try jacking the car up and spinning the wheels in neutral. if the other side spins alright, its not a tranny or diff issue.

id say stuck caliper. ive never seen a hub assembly seize up before, they ususaly just get real loose. axles usualy dont bind up, they just blow apart.

Was really hot on this car until
              seeing it in person. Horrendous!
Looks as though it never saw
the inside of a garage. Lots of
work inside and out. Dude said
100k on the phone then come
              to find out 114k.

as for the front wheel, I did not
even pull it. had a quick look and
nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
caliper was fine and bolted down
axle looked dandy so this one is
              a mystery.

the only plus is brand new tires
but he wants a cool grand. sad to
say he should have let the car go
              before blowing $$$ on tires.

when taken care of these cars are
sharp, in fact there's a fine example
of one on ebay at $3k right now

and here's the POS I saw this morning...

i had the exact same problem once.
front right caliper came off, turns out a very important bolt didn't get tightened up after I replaced the brake pads.
