  • Header Paint... Damage?

I couldn't fork out the extra $200 to have my headers ceramic coated when I got them (since headers weren't in my budget anyways, was forced to get them), so instead I got them totally bare. I did lots of reading and I know that ceramic coating is best but a proper paint job with header paint can work great too.

So I got the headers, sanded them a bit, cleaned with alky, did a few coats of paint, baked them according to instructions. Watched videos of professionals doing it, I think I did a great job and they came out nice.

Well today I had a coolant leak where coolant was coming out of a line and dumping onto the headers, evaporating, condensing on part of the intake manifold and dripping right back down on the headers and doing it again.

Now I got spots of nasty looking stuff all over the crossover/back header. It's not super bad but it doesn't wipe off with a dry rag. It's like if you boil dexcool, whatever nasty shit that doesn't evaporate is cooked onto my headers.

Ideas on a quick way to clean them back up?
