  • New Tow Vehicle

    Hey guys,

I just today picked up a Saab 9-7X. It has the 5.3L Gen IV V8. There are all kinds of parts out there for it (superchargers, tuning, headers, exhaust, etc). I needed a daily driver and thought that I would also get something that can two around my other two cars and has a warranty. Here are some pictures.

I do have to say, I love the 4.2 from a tech/geek perspective, but the torque and sound of the 5.3 are intoxicating!

looks nice, cant say ive seen one before. is it brand new??? it kind of surprises me to see that a saab still uses a 4l60e, i though by now it would have the new 6l80 in it.

Is it just me, or does it look like they stuck a 9-3 front fascia on an Olds Bravada? Nice car, BTW. I bet it'll be way better than it's American sister cars.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

The 9-7X has been around since 2005. The Bravada comment is funny. It is essentially a dressed up and revised Bravada. My dad has a 02 Bravada. Some of the body panels are identical in the rear end (I think the tail lights are even a direct swap). This car does have added chassis stiffening, stiffer springs shocks and swaybars, larger wheels and tires, HID's, faster steering, different bushings, more sound deadening, a redesigned dash/interior, and a whole host of other changes compared with the other GM360's. Some of the changes were shared with the Trailblazer SS, but some are still Saab specific. I have driven my dad's Bravada for thousands of miles, and there really is no comparison. It may be the same platform and identical in many aspects, but for the driver, the experience is much nicer.

What I'm happiest about is the traction control/stabilitrak button on the shifter...

GM definetly got its use out of the GMT360!

Good move on the 5.3L. The 4.2L sucks gas (I bet it's worse than the 5.3L from an economy standpoint) and lacks the low end power. My father had an '05 Envoy with the 4.2, glad he traded it in.
