Nice grill, must make some sweet tasting t-bones.
Do many of our cars burn. I knew a guy with a 91' GTP that burnt. He said the tranny started to slip and then he smelled some thing burning. He pulled over and the thing burned to the ground. Poor bastard.

My girlfriends 89 Beretta GT caught fire when I had the plenum off cause fuel was leaking .. Asked her to turn on car (w/o engine running) so I can see which injector needed an O-ring and she cranked it the whole way .. Needless to say, I was roasting marshmallows out of it. But anywho ..

What did she do then? I imagine your relationship caught fire too, not burnin' love though.

Sorry if this is off topic, but I told her to turn off engine while I frantically looked for a fire extinquisher .. so all in all .. replacing a blown headgasket and a cracked front head job turned into more than what I wanted to do .. I actually caught it quick enough that I just needed new plenum gaskets, couple of vaccumm lines, and I replaced all the o-rings for fuel injectors. As for the woman, she was just pissed for a week and ditched for Beretta after 6 months .. what a BITCH ..

seems like it starts near the throttle body? Maybe a fuel leak problem with 3.8's?? Cause I've seen plenty of '92+ H-bodies in the junkyard looking just the same

What are these guys doing wrong that the L67's are catching fire?

                      Owning them.

IMO those are really crappy engines. I drove a 2002 Monte Carlo with the NA 3800 and, needless to say, my car could beat the piss out of that ugly crap (sorry to anyone who likes the new Monte's).

No offense, but I was looking for a real answer. I mean, is it a design flaw or is it stupidity on the part of people installing aftermarket stuff?

I would say, probably a little of both. This one looked stock, but I didn't get too up close and personal with it. The SC was seized though, lol. What I meant by my answer of both is maybe it starts out life as a design flaw, and then gets worse by messing with stuff modifying it with aftermarket stuff.

Sweetest T bones, this side of the Grand Canyon, lol. That GTP would be the first one I would know of that burned. I have never heard of a thing like that with our cars.

To me it looked like it started on the passenger side of the bay. Reason being there is still some black paint left on the drivers side strut tower, and pretty much none on the passenger side tower. I think it really had something to do with the white SpongeBob Squarepants sticker on the fuel tank door, lol. That SpongeBob is an unforgiving bad assed bastard, lol.
