You can also tap into your old tank for more supply. The compreessor I have now was hooked to a 40 tank in the rafters and another 20 gal compressor identical to mine (except the motor is burnt). It was just plumbed with 1/2" soft copper tubing and silver soldered. Soon this setup will make it into the garage and I will have multiple hook ups so only a short hose is needed. You can pick up tanks really cheap without a motor so you don't have to listen to the thing run so much.

The old tank and the 11 gallon I got to add onto it aren't rated to 155 psi, so I would hate to blow them up. I really don't need more than 60 gallons right now anyway since it is just me using it. Dad might use it for something else at the same time to blow up tires or for the blowgun. We a have the pvc pipe routed underground to the shed, plus 100 foot of hose that holds air as well.

I've done that to inner tubes before.

yeah, not gonna happen too well. Make sure you have good airflow to your motor for cooling. Only sound deadening I did was put it in a different building away from me:P

The majority of compressor noise comes from the intake side. Try a larger muffler on it.

The problem with the oil-less ones is they spin so damn fast the intake pulses create a hell of a racket. A big muffler will quiet it down.

yeah, i'm using a 20gal oilless compressor for my stuff here, and that sucker is soooo loud.... i can't wait to be able to afford something decent.... but hey i can't complain, it was free and it works great. it's about the same loudness as the old compressor i used to use, and that one was oiled, but that was about....25 years old hahaha.....
