I have been using the craftsman (devilbliss) 25 gallon 5hp air compressor. Its good for filling up tires and some die grinder use, but its not cutting it in a business situation where I am porting a lot more.

No more of that crap Now I have a kobalt 60 gallon 3.7 running hp compressor. No more lagging die grinder after 2-3 minutes of operation. Happy days!

I just inherited a 220v, 2hp, 20gal,7.8cfm from my father-in-law. I had almost the same compressor as you did, except it was Husky.

This sucker is 220v, so dad ran the line out to the shed for it. We have a generator as well to plug in and power the house through it out there as well, so it needed to be ran anyway. Im loving this though, it doesn't drop below 90 psi and I regulate my grinder at 80

I han't had good luck with large oilless compressors (except my 2gal PortaCable pancake I use for finish nailers).

I have ported a lot of parts with that oilless, so I give it credit for not blowing up on me. Its had too much water in it too, which sucked. Ive learned a bit about air compressors now Already put mobil one in this one right after break in. May be a waste of time for an air compressor but I want this one to last a very long time.

Do you have a line drier? They help with longevity of tools .

Off topic: How much to port heads? Do you exchange, or would I have to mail mine?

I have a water seperator and then a backup one in case I don't catch the first one in time. Also have an auto oiler afterwards. I disassemble the die grinder and clean it out once in a while to make sure its good.

Probably best to look at the store here for pricing/options. I need to make packages and make it easier to get what you need. Its nice now for those that can get the rest of the machine work done, all the parts, and assemble themselves. If you want everything ready to bolt up, you have to select all the options. PM me what what you are wanting exactly and we can go from there. It would be best to send me a set of heads first, as I don't like dealing with core charges.

wow its about time you stepped up to 220. I couldnt stand the "perma-run" wheeled 120 units.

be sure to drain the tank of water every once in awhile too.

I plan on draining it often, maybe every night. I get a lot more water now, and I got a lot before. I can't do 3 lower intake manifold upper ports without filling it up and getting into the 2nd one.

I am still amazed at how hot this sucker gets. Im loving its performance now. Should have done this years ago for sure. I didn't realize how much the compressor was slowing me down.
