Well, buying parts for the GA is being put on the burner for a while, still going to continue doing head/manifold work as I can; but ran across a deal that was too good to pass up! I'll have to post some pictures of it maybe tomorrow, or this weekend.
Just got hold of a 1991 Chevy C1500 Sport short cab/short bed pickup with only 102000 miles, stouting a sbc TBI 350 w/ a 4-speed A/T. Exterior is in decent shape, still got the factory black although a little faded, with the orange/red pinstripes, clearcoat is peeling in some spots, but no body rust at all. Interior is that Chevy grey, still in great shape, premium factory stereo - no holes in the seats or carpets, no cracks in the dash. Headliner still defying gravity. Truck is in great shape, no fluid leaks to speak of; original owner, all maintenance work was documented; this truck was highly maintained right down to the oil change every 3k miles. Brand new BFG Radial T/A tires on it, shocks and recently new, brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder has all been replaced within the last year. Still running the factory R12 (still fully charged too!). She's got a full size camper shell on the bed, fiberglass that's been painted to match the truck. Some performance work was done to it: Summit hi-flow dual exhaust setup (although still running the OE manifolds), the OE EEPROM has been replaced with a performance chip, K&N air filter (that looks fairly brand new, never been cleaned before).
1500 FRIGGIN DOLLARS!!
I just couldn't pass it up! I'm planning on this truck being my street/strip rodded truck in the distant future; just kinda playing with ideas as to what I'm wanting to do with it. I could always keep the 350, and swap out the TBI for a 4-barrel, do a sbc buildup. Or, I could drop in a 454 of that era (seeing as how the SS models ran the bbc). Or . . . I could drop in a built 454, or maybe a stroked 455 (which would be my preference) . . . or, maybe I could always go the route of swapping in a blown LQ9 or blown LS7 partnered to a 5L80 or one of the new 6 speeds . . . I've got more than enough room in this beast for any crazy combination.
So, looking to bounce some ideas here, any recommendations for future plans with it?
