  • Major break-down, need help

Dad came over at easter, we went to church, on the way home he slowed way down to 60 mph, I didn't realize he had problems, we made it to the gas station where it sounded like his throw out bearing was completely blown out, it got quiet when he put the clutch in. It made a god awful rattle when clutch was out especially in gear and moving, he made it to my house a few miles down the road. I went out to move the car into the garage, I cut the wheel, puit it in first and tried to go. The driveline was bound, the car nose dived and stalled. Thinking it was really screwed I tried reverse and got it, the car rolled a few feet down the drive and stopped, its a slight hill. Now the shifter won't come out of reverse, I know, I even jumped in the back seat and tried kicking it, then took a brass punch and hammer to the linkage, and the car won't move even with clutch depressed, engine will run as long as clutch is held in.
I'm pretty sure the gear box is toast. I need parts info, locations, and any hints on moving the damn thing into my garage.

Last thing, this is the DOHC section, so I thought, even though its a 1991 Ford SHO, and I've helped so many of you in the past under a differant screen name, I was hoping you all would return the favor. Don't get my Dad wrong, he always wanted a SHO so I bougth it for him, 44k miles on it no rust, very clean, and $400 was too good a price to let it go.

    Thanks for any info.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

My dad has an auto SHO so I dunno. I thought you were talking 284 till the end so I moved this to off topic and changed the title to SHO since you wouldn't know till the very end.

well i cant help you on parts , your best bet is to get a junyard tranny and change the fluid in it, the reason your tranny probably toasted was lack of oil, it wouldnt be the throw out bearing because the noise wouldnt be there when your not touching the clutch, its when you press the clutch that the bearing comes in contact with moving parts, so what was happening was you were disengaging the clutch and the internals of the tranny stopped spining so the bearing that was siezing stop spinning . now on the LQ1 motor the throw out bearing is always spinning because it is a pull type clutch. to get it in the garage, jack up the end of the car that the tires drive and push it in. its the way we do it to cars at work that people leave for months and we need to move to the end of the parking lot.
