  • 1996 SOHC Neon vs. 1995 Monte Carlo Z34

I've got the Monte, and my friend has a Neon. He just started arguing about how his car is better... Has a bunch of crappy facts to back it up as of now. Anyone got any first hand experience on these two? Maybe just some input because your bored and want to laugh at a four banger? Heh.

Tell him to put some money down if he's so sure if his car.

And neon's far from outlast GM's.
'93 Sunbird. 5spd, 3.1, it's fast. Oh, and 240k miles has proven lethal against Turbo Talons

I'm lurking occasionaly. It's tough because I'm usually too busy with the Army or my 5.0 Mustang. Which is for sale.

as long as your lq1 is running correctly, you should make short work of that sohc neon.

I'm really not too worried about the lq1. It needs a tune up and I have all the stuff, but no where to do all the work and its still cold out. The engine has 193xxx on it, but still runs really good, especially compared to what some ppl say their lq1's run. Only thing is the temp gauge wont actually warm up. I've driven it pretty hard for 8-10 miles and it just barely came up off of the C on the temp gauge. Its killed one 4t60e, I just put a new one back in it. I think I'll waste him, but it isnt legal yet either or I already would have. Heh.

I believe he meant that neons cannot even compete with the durability and longevity of a GM product. Just worded it a little different."And neon's far from outlast GM's."

Just from my experience >_> Neons suck really back...turbo style....you would blow him out running on 5 cly to the point where you could just toy with him

I was going relatively fast thru a school zone and was caught. However, I managed to zip into a neighborhood and evade the cop. Could I get additional tickets by trying to run?

                Roger that.

I must admit, my wording was in fact goofy lol.

I have a co-worker with an SRT-4. Conservatively estimated at 320WHP. I don't respect him for it though...all he did was throw money at the dealer and grunted "Make car go fast."

i dont know man them little bastads are fast, maybe with some extensive mods a Lq1 would get an SRT-4 u have to think about how much that little srt-4 is like nothing comapred to a W-body

This LQ1 of mine isn't going anywhere, if it does, its for another LQ1. I just put a tranny in it w/ a 3 year warranty so therefore the car stays with me at least until that is done with. The tranny is brand new and teh engine has 193xxx on it so I've got an engine rebuild soon I believe, which means I could possibly piss of an LQ1 a good amount. Just have to find out how everything goes.

When you say it would take extensive mods, i believe you meant "EXTENSIVE" mods, for an LQ1 to hang with a stock SRT4. Hey, I dont care for them either. But ya can't deny what they are capable of
