The lobster looks like it is in pretty good shape, aside from that 3.4 DOHC. Time to swap in a built 3400.

I was just on GMpowertrain.com and noticed that they are using a 4t65e tranny on the 5.3L LS4 applications.

Anyone else wonder why they didn't use the 4t80e?

Well I wondered why they didnt use the new 6 speed as well as the 4T80-E.. I know it takes a bunch more power to turn the 4T80-E... I guess its good the LS4 isn't running that... And after driving the car... the 6 speed is somthing it doesnt need...Apparently this verison of the 4T65-EHD can hold the power and the engine is dynamic enough....

Thanks. Its been a good car. Leaks some oil out the front but it runs well. Surprisingly strong. Think its one of those freak engines...Anyways It has 185 K on it. When I got it was not drivable. the subframe was missing 2 bolts and the brake lines rotted out at the back screw connections and the intake cam on the front locked up. Took me a month to get it driveable, took me another month to get it were I liked it...Ihad to repalce the door because it was hit and tey put it back together all worng, not to mention the guy left the car sitting for like 6 years, rodents moved in and pretty much ruined the interior..it smeled so bad. I pull out the whole interior hosed and disinfected the whole bare metal interior.Replaced the entire interior with the parts from the White whale. plus the leather bits I obtained from the yard. The only thing I kept on that car was the headliner. It even has a new carpet. It was a sorry pice, the guy said that the he knew the clutch would work.. he was right about that...replacedd the dry rotted tires with some 245/45/16 BFG CompT/A's, Put in my GM style Pioneer radio with pioneer 4x6 plate in the dash and 6x9 in the rear(duh) and regalur 4x6 in the door which i leep turned off becasue It doesnt souind clear comming off the gm door amp. new kyb struts andrear mounts, took my cop car struts from the whale and remounted to the lobster, added a '93 and down style spoiler, and repalced the leaky stock exhasut with my custom 2.5 inch cat to tail pipe exhaust off the whale. As 2 2.5 Hooker AeroChambers with 2 rectangle Slash cut stainless steel Gibson tailpipes that do fit perfect. Also had to replace th epower antenna with a ebay powerantenna and added an auto day/night rearview mirror. Brakes are '96 style up front, rear are '93 and down style with stainless steel sliderbushings. Had to repalce the rotted fuel tank with one from the whale and I made new brake lines.had to cut the fuel line and replace the end so I could put in a new fuel filter. Engine has new upper gaskets, new oil pan gasket.Shifter cable has new booger bushings to tighten it all up and got new Synchro mesh fluid. Added the driver monitor, and a led red contrast light mounted on the floor front center for night driving. Also repalced all coolant hoses sans the heater core pipes. I did too much for this car but it runs and its somewhat presentable.. all i got to do now is remove the inoperative A.I.R. pump, replace the driver side fender,... I'd like to replace the head light panel but thats just asking for it right there...Too much rust...Also I'll get my new engine in there...
