The trailer paneling in one half of the basement. Looks like "Raising Arizona" down there, complete with the low ceiling.

    That's getting fixed in June.

I finally got clearance from the city to allow a new gas furnace installed, for some reason they had on record that my house was a mobile home with the local utilities, inpectors all about digging and probing, pokeing aroung for days and left with a mess to clean up... Yup this foundation is 5 feet in the soil with 3.5 feet exposed for a total of a 7.5 foot foundation wall all around including 5 foot deep frost footings. Your house is not a mobile home they told me, pfff. I already knew that. modular manufactured in 1973 but not a roadable house. Everything was set up onsite in several phases floor in 2 huge pieces, walls then roof was built on site because the trusses were bought from nearby distributer lumber mills and stamped. Why don't people understand modular manufactured. Interior walls were setup with studs cut in the midwest, walls came from down south.

My house passes current code cycle as a conventional single family house building code with modern stud weight requirement and the updated will be posted to the National MLS next year, and I got a Coleman echelon series downflow 92% gas furnace with a 13SEER echelon series 3S 8.8 as installed HSPF Heatpump hot technology. Gas company is installing a meter free of charge.

I don't hate too much. Got 1800sf under A/C, 400sf of garage (two car), and a 1/4 acre in the heart of Coral Springs, FL (2500sf total under roof). The temp hardly ever get below 60* () and I can go to the beach on New Year's Day (with no jacket).

I guess I get pissed when the City complains that I left a garbage can out for two days, yet they haven't said anything about the car on stands in my driveway for a month (legally they can tow it at this point).

Anyway, I guess I hate the $3800/yr insurance because of the hurricanes and the taxes that almost match (mortgage makes me cry sometims )

"i love my house and my neibhors are great, but we have a very strong club association and they have walkers (old farts that walk around the hood checking
things out).and when they walk by my house they walk very slow checking it out very good ,and when they see me they also check me and i can almost read there mind saying "how this mexican lives here".most of the time don't bother me ,but once in a while it tickes my huevos."

            LMAO!

I hate having a backyard with plant life.. I really dont like grass. It turns into weeds then pollen floats around & before you know it you have bees chasing you around!

I now hate the fact that my house has the same bonfire pit behind it as the one that I fell in last night..while there was a fire in it.

              I win.

something new for my house to hate.

The guy that built it prewired the house for CABLE. First of all, he did not put in an exterior opening to run it into the house.

Second, he did not connect any of the cables in the attic the proper way (just stripped the ends and twisted them together).

Third, he did not fun the cable that is between my wall, and my living room wall the right way. He put the splitter in upside down, so when we hooked it up in the attic, I could not get a signal for my modem. He also staggered the boxes, and when we were going to drill through one of them to get to the wires, we discovered that a power outlet is on the other side (nearly got zapped over that one).

Other things are a traveling short. Sometimes the exhaust fan does not work in the bathroom, but the next day it will work, but the lights over the sink will not work. The next day the lights over the sink work, but the ones in the hall dont work. And it just keeps migrating.

also, when he measured the trim that goes around the doors, he measued it BEFORE the tile was laid. So they don't line up. And instead of just trimming them down to fit, he just put them up anyways. I REALLY need to post a lot of pics of the shit that was done wrong in this house.

We have told the landlord about it, but he will not come to fix it. He wants me to, but I feel that if I am paying rent, and it is his house, and I am not allowed to modify anything, then it is HIS problem, not mine. Besides, most of my stuff is in storage.

Here are some pics of the problems.

First of all, the wall coating is just cracking off in places. You can find this all around the house. And the house is not even 10 years old.

One of the biggier issues to me is the LAUNDRY ROOM. It is located between the living room, and the master suite. The vent duct for the DRYER goes UP THE WALL, and INTO THE ATTIC. It does not vent outside. Next time I go up there, I will snap some pics of the unfinished attic next time I go up there.

Stuff in the kitchen was never finished up. For example, when they measured for the dishwasher, they did not take the POWER CORD into consideration. Also, the oven is right next to the cabinets, so when you open the door oven door, it scraps against the cabinet doors.

When they were doing the tile, they did not match up the lines. Common sense would have said to match them up, and let the difference in colour, and pattern determine the boundry line, but not this designer. Nothing can match up. Also, notice that the baseboard trim was not finished up.

There is more in the kitchen alone, but I just get pissed thinking about it.

Whenever they measured for the mouldings around the doors, they measured and cut the material BEFORE the floor was laid down. After they finished tileing, and went to install the mouldings, they did not retrim the pieces, so none of them match up right. A lot of them, they did not clean off the plaster after getting the walls done.

They installed the air duct, and thermostat in the small hallway between my room, and the bathroom. There is NO airflow when my door is shut, so the heater or air conditioner will just run, and run until you shut it off. Because of the 12 foot ceilings, it takes a LONG TIME to cool down, or heat up the house.

First of all, what bedroom needs ceilings this tall? Second of all, why is there no door for the bathroom?

I just had to add titles to this pic. There is STORAGE above the STORAGE above the closet. You have to get a 10 foot ladder to get to them, but it is right between the walls for the linen closted, and the clothes closet, so you can't get a ladder in there.

Why the hell would you put a normal light bulb in the roof of a 3 X 5 closet with 12 feet ceilings? If you look at the right side of the pic, you can see the top of the door sill. There is NO WAY to change that bulb out if it ever blows.

well i win in the injury department associated with the house..you definitely win for the poorly designed house.

and you're right, it is the landlord who should be responsible for the condition and repairs of the house. just curious, when you moved in, did he go over ANY of this with you? if not you might have a good basis for filing charges and forcing the repairs out of him...

when I moved in, some of the things were not so bad. Over time, they are getting worse.

If the house burns down, I am only out $500.00 I don't keep a lot of stuff in here anymore. All I would really lose is my old TV (that is starting to mess up anyways), and some clothes.

I keep my laptop in a bag next to my bed, so I could grab that on the way out.

He says that the short is not a serious problem. If the house burns down, then shit will happen. I have it documented that there is a short, and have it prepared to file at his insurance company so he will not get anything back in the event of the loss of this house.

I'm sure there is more, but probably my #1 hatred is...

                            Brown Recluses!!

We kill usually about 1 a week. We've bombed the basement several times, but don't have access to the attic, so we can't bomb there. Luckily, no one has ever been bit, but there have been a couple times where we killed them as they were walking across the wall right above my 4yr old daughter's bed. Don't think we've ever seen one around the baby's crib, so that's nice...

we have them here too, as well as Black Widow spiders. I think if I had no choice, and had to be bit, I would rather be bit by a black widow than a brown recluse.

Fortunantly, I have not seen either of those in my house.
