  • A/C recharge

ok i hope this is the right room to post this.
the radiater in my z26 was replaced right before i bought it. the compressor was replaced only a few years ago, but since the rad. was replaced the 134r is no longer. now the question i have is do i have to vac the system or just replace the 134r and the oil? also how many cans of 134 do i need to replenish the system. i think when i redid my Camaro the kit i used had 3 cans of 134 and 1 can of oil.
    p.s. its a '95 Z26 w/ a 3.1L
    any suggestions?

    Respectfully,
    Phil's SinisterZ26

To do it right, the system should be put in a vacuum, leak-tested and re-charged with the proper amount. Then add a small amount of dye to help locate future leaks. The freon had to go somewhere. My guess would be when the radiator was replaced, the condenser was damaged and/or disconnected. Or the case seals leak on the compressor.

*If you recharge the system yourself, DO NOT use anything that includes a "stop-leak". It can do a lot of damage to the system.
