  • I got the new 5.7L DOHC VVT Tundra

Like it says the 2007 Tundra is pretty bas ass.
    Damn thing hauls 5 tons.

The engine performance is wierd. I don't really mind VVT, but it takes away from the american muscle part of the engine.
Why? Because the torque / Hp is evened out thoughout the rpm range more.
I love the 1995 Z34 because at 3500 rpm, you know you are in its power band.
The tundra likes to cruz at about 1500 to 2500 rpm most of the time, and the six speed tranny well, I guess it is nice. I like the Z because you mash on the gas and you go down a gear and bamn, american muscle feel and sound.

the tranny can be shifted manually, but it doesn't really make sense to do that.
if you manually shift, there is a dely of about 2 seconds.

All in all, it is an awesome truck, I just like the Z more for driving.
    95 MC Z34 Black
Running strong with new engine, transmission, brakes and suspension.

the toyota trucks are nice. just keep in mind that itll tow 5 tons, not haul it (hauling is when that weight is in the bed)

the 6 speeds in those are actualy a very nice working tranny. yes there is the delay when shifting manualy. is isnt usualy used from day to day, but when you are towing a trailer up a hill, you will know why its useful.

      oh well.

i don't believe in buying trucks that don't have a bowtie, gmc logo, ram, or blue oval on the grille.

honestly, ive driven a new toyota truck and they are impressive. the quality is a lot better, they are competitivly priced, and perform just as well. i know a guy who just ordered his new toyota. its a 4.7l with 6 speed auto, and he is getting the factory supercharger, headers and exaust put on, to total 510hp!! best part is its all toyota, and all warrentied.

gm dodge and ford have dominated in the truck market, but now toyota is taking a serious chunk of their market. and most people arent brand loyal like thay have been in the past.

The toyota trucks are mostly built in the states it costs them to much to ship those things in... I don't know why people have the mis nomer that if it isn't ford chevy or dodge it isn't built here.

Toyota has been building cars in the united states for over 20 years.

I have the 2002 v8 and the reason i bought it is the mpg its better than the ford or chevy... I have driven both... and dodge don't even get me started on the dodge. that thing is a pig on gas brother has the 4.7 and he gets 13mpg city highway don't matter and he drives like my grandma

The other thing is before some of the new trucks came out it had the most in bed weight with a mark at almost 1800 lbs making it a 3/4 ton bed. my oppion the only thing that blows on that truck is the access cab rear seats but i didn't buy the truck to hall people around.

Whats even more hysterical, is that all these honda and toyota nut-swingers out there think that since it's built in America, that it's an American vehicle! Wrong. Where do you think 80+% of those funds and profits are going? That's right. Right back to japan. And even though us Americans build these trucks in America, we are still supporting the japs and their economy.
And the toyota getting better gas mileage? Wrong. In fact, toyota gets some of the WORSE gas mileage in thier pickup trucks. Especially the new ones, where GM trounces them by 2+ mpg on average.

Gm trucks rock. Period. Most engines, most configurations. They have always gotten the best mileage since EFI was introduced. That is of course when you compare the same engine and weight class.

Go Compare a 5.7L Hemi to a 6.0L Vortec and the vortec Beats it in every Catagory. Ford? Well they blow and are the cheepest garbage trucks on the road. They sell because they are the cheepest not because they are good. Aparently the new Diesels are plagued with problems.

Not a drop of out side crap 100% corn bread american.. Hmmm Toyota is the only one on that truck list than can claim that one. Well I don't have a problem with canada but then again maybe there taking our jobs just like the Mexico or more so mexicans coming accross the border and holding jobs here.
I think Japan is the least of our worries

Another note on taking away jobs
Take them away??? We are the ones dumb enough to let them go.
We shut the door on our own steel industries. We send our computer tech jobs to India. And these are american companies that did that.

I love my Chevy's don't get me wrong but I have driven all the 2002 trucks drove them. Rented each for a week a side from the ford(read ending for reason why) and the toyota to me just felt better. I didn't drive the 1500HD thats the 6.0 I wasn't looking for one. The 5.3 engine on paper says it gets better milage. That's paper. The only good thing I think about the 5.3 and i'm not sure it applied to the 2002 year is its a Flex Fuel engine. But we don't have any alcohol gas in the greater Los Angeles area so that doesn't do any good after that it retards the power down and milage goes down as well. Run 87 in the truck and you will get less MPG than the toyota. That was 02 truck now you take some of the new stuff then yeah they are different. In 05 toyota changed there 4.7 engen to run on 91 which did two things bumped their output numbers and can't say for sure but being in car sales for a while was told it droped the MPG cus everybody sticks 87 in it.

I took what I could get the best deal on...

                I don't do FORD I'm a guy not gay.

Ford's frames are now made in India. As far as Ford being a cheap crappy truck, how do you explain the best re-sale of the "American" made trucks? My F150 has 180,000 miles on it and I drive it like I only have two speeds : stop and wide open (all with 1000+lbs of tools in it). And yes the Toyota's are assembled in America but most of the parts are made overseas (like Hyndai and Honda). Chevy also sub-contracts a lot of parts overseas as well (ie Bosch, Autolite,Delco). I've also managed to get 289,000 out of a 4.3 powered GMC 1500.

                    Trucks

I own a Dodge Ram 3500, with that being said here is my reasoning. I won't own a gas truck this big since they get horrible mileage. I work my truck pretty hard on occasion so that rules out anything under a 3/4 ton. I also want a solid frontend so that rules out a GM product. And the reliability issues of the Ford diesels eliminates them. Now if Toyota offered a Diesel 3/4+ ton truck I might look at it(its coming I heard) Some percentage of all the trucks are made here, and all of them have parts manufactured overseas so I wouldn't worry about what is made where. Buy whatever fills the bill for you.

You honestly think that ALL toyotas are made here? Nopers. Only a few models. Most everything else is in japan. Plus all the parts are imported. And ya I'm not gonna disagree with the fact that a LOT of the things America does pretty much give away jobs to other countries (closing steel plants, auto plants, outsourcing etc.). I really cannot FATHOM why the f*ck they do this if they are so worried about our economy and well being. But that doesn't mean I am about to start supporting something the japs make and profit off of simply because the US likes to outsource
And of course everything looks better on paper. Look at toyotas prius. "EPA" estimated 60mpg. Anywhere near that? LOL f*ck no! More like 40 tops!! The GM LSx series motors. 27 or 28mpg? Nope. I know MANY people with 4-500rwhp LSx motors getting 32mpg. Honda? Supposedly they last a long time? Little does anyone know since the mid-late '80's they have been using incorect metering systems and show up to 7-8% more miles than actual. This includes gas mileage. Everything looks better on paper. Fact is, japanese cars over-rate, American cars under-rate. When it comes down to it, my 11 cars (American, mind you..) with a minimum 64k miles (slammed/bagged '96 GMC Sonoma) to a 240k '90 Grand Prix 5spd SE, have done better in gas mileage, build quality, power, and everything else than any similar and comparative generation import. I love American cars, and my theory is whatever japan can do, we can do better. Somebody prove me wrong
'93 Sunbird. 5spd, 3.1, it's fast. Oh, and 240k miles has proven lethal against Turbo Talons

I didn't get the Dodge b/c I had one and it sucked.
Ford F150, I actually like the new one, but Toyota has better towing, torque, and HP.
Chevy 1500 is nice, but it just wasn't off-road enough.

I still enjoy the monte carlo the most. DOHC's rule.
