Ok, I'm not going to join ClubGP just to post the info on the 1600hp 3.5L, so I'll just post it here and those that come over here from there can read it and post about it over there if they wish...
The final race engine was eventually debored and destroked to meet the category rules. Two big twin turbos were added along with a modified upper intake, but the competition engine still maintained its production lower intake, fuel rail and head castings. Although a small liner was pressed into the block to meet the class rules of a 3.5L engine, the block casting, cylinder head castings, and crankshaft all remained production components.
And you can't tell me ZZP and Intense don't spend $$$ on R&D for the L67. Sure, maybe its not to the extent of the above, but I really doubt they just threw some components together and got a couple 9-sec cars.-Brad-

I like the comment about how people here are jealous of the L67. Since I own both. I will say that the L67 sucks to work on. And some things I'm very displeased with the crappy design on. If it came down one of them needing repaired, I'd much rather it be the 3400. Cuz it's a lot easier to repair the simple things (or.... on the L67, what should be the simple things).
Plus.... I might not have the almighty M90 supercharger on the 3400. But that just means that I dont have to sit there and listen to it rattle while i'm sitting at a red light. (yes it can be repaired..... but that's just one more expense that shouldnt be needing done more than once every 100,000 miles)97 Cavalier RS
