The very end shows it doesnt stick to ferrous metals, so you can weld around a bolt and it can be unscrewed and already threaded!

we have some of this stuff at work. ive fixed transmission cases with it. it works just like they show, and when i was testing it out aftyer welding an ear back onto a tranny case and hitting it with a hammer, i broke the case in a different spot than were i welded.

its is not cheap (about $40 for about 20 rods and the brush) but it pays for itself in one use if you had to send it to a welding shop to be tig welded.

Yea looks good. But because it does not melt the base metal it will fail a tensile test or a bend test.

Sharkey I know you said it held better than the transmission case you were beaing on but thats not saying much since cast aluminum is not very strong. But for that type of repair it works perfect and it would also work well on intake manifolds. Also the hefty price is nothing copared to the pice of a welder and the supplies you need to support a welder.

So good product for certian applications.

ok where can i get some? i went to far on my L67 TB today and i can either use the quicksteel puddy (kinda like JB weld but a puddy) or these! and i'll have some left over to do other projects

This does raise some interesting thoughts.

According to the website, it is brazing aluminum. No worries about burn-through. No special gasses. No expensive equipment. It may be a wonderful gift for those building custom intakes and such. Totally machinable. Anyone have any info on longevity of the "welds"? From what I saw on the video, I'll give it a thumbs up for now. Next time I get a hole in my beer can, I can fix it fast! That alone makes it worth it.....

yes brazing is more the term id use.

as for longetivity, well, ive fixed a few tranny cases, havent had eny come back broken again. another great place ive used it is in small ford (ranger, explorer) electric shift tranfer cases. they have an issue with the pump wearing a groove in the case (steel on aluminum), the pump then spins breaks off the pickup tube and smokes out the t-case. ive used it numorous times to fill those grooves back up, as there usualy arent replacment case halves around.

you can use anything that will get the aluminum over 700*. at the shop, i just use the oxy acetelene torch
