I don't plan on putting cats on my Z24, mainly due to space restrictions.

i have dual exaust and i run a pair on mini cats. try stuffing dual exaust through a cavalier exaust tunnel, and then throw a pair of cats side by side.

i know in canada, federal law prevents you from removing or tampering withany emmisions controll device factory installed on an obd2 vehicle. obd 1 is a little more iffy. here, pre 88 vehicles dont need cats, but they gotta pass the sniffer test, both idle and driving (92+ is a 90km/h driving, pre 92 is 40km/h). my car, with no egr and just the pair of mini cats passed cleaner than it did stock. ill keep the cats in, i have each bank going into its own 2" cat, and stock exaust was 2" for 6 cyls, so i got lots of flow.

aside from the legality, its realy time that people trying to make power take some responsibility for the enviroment. im no tree hugging granola biter, but we all breathe the air our cars are polluting, why not just keep that cats in and make it a bit cleaner.

I saw your setup, my only concern was rattle with the 2 cats in there. Any issues there?

I haven't even started on my exhaust yet so when the time comes around i may end up doing like yours... I'll defenetly need something to quiet it down.

El Diablo, 14 counties around Dayton really sucked for awhile. Weird, Franklin wasn't one of them.

na the dam snakes kept trying to coil up on my while trying to build the rest of the exaust so i ditched them and ran cats instead.

actually it is illegal to not have one on cars that came with them in all 50 states, that's a federal law. just because a state doesn't test doesn't mean you don't need a cat.


red up here (8 counties of greater cleveland and akron) we have through at least the end of this year, then they're supposed to re-evaluate it. nevermind that every interstate from the northeast to the west passes through here and that all our pollution is from all the highways and manufacturing and air traffic and not from people driving dirty cars.

Every state has the right to govern there own laws learn it know it is it the truth, even if it is the federal law. My main point is SD doesn't impound a car not having one rarly if ever tickets one without it.. note taken.... SD codified law states it is illegel for a mech to remove it does not state if it is against the state law for a personal owner to remove it.

The whole picture of world and what is regulated and what is not is sad really, I mean I use one and nevr had a car without it but the world as a picture is hard to reverse such pollution already introduced, specifically china this country has the worst emissions tell them to conserve and whamm...They can't because of the shear population.

Not that I would have any way to know this but an “empty” cat makes a nice resonator ! And if you add an air pump to almost any MPFI you can pass most test's on the east coast ! Florida still has a “law” but no testing centers any more. But a cop can still look under the car.
