Is there any simple way to test what octane a gas is?
At my fav gas station I have realized they have counters on the sides in tiny numbers that count how many gallons have been pumped through that pump. There are 2 banks of numbers, however 3 grades of gas. 87, 91, 93.
If I pump 87, set 1 of numbers moves to the gallon (counter is over 350k gallons!).
If I pump 93, set 2 moves (only 16k gallons).
I have yet to test 91 so I dunno which bank it's going to move.
Is there any way I can test the octane coming out of this machine aside from sending it to a lab?
