Nice Car ,i Just Don't Like The Way The Amp Looks In The Trunk,looks Lonely.i Would Find A Place Where You Couldn't See It ,the Trunck Would Look Cooler To Me Just Woofers,but That's Me .nice Car Again.

I'm curious . . . your HVAC control unit, is that outta the '96-'98 models? I've got a '92 and my HVAC control looks nothing like that, but damn if yours doesn't look exactly like in my '98.

Not all the switches are being put to use as of right now, when I did the center console I put them there knowing I would need them in the future. Do have a few things that I need to wire to the switched I just havent gotten around to it yet, you know cars, there always a work in progress. As for the HVAC. On grand ams they chenged the knobs in 94. 92-93 knobs were different then 94-98. There were also some other things changed in 94 like the steering wheel, the headlight and windshield wiper sticks were also redesigned

I think your a little confused on your gens. 92-98 were all 4th gen. But in any case yeah they changed little things hear and there.

I disagree, man; the RWD and FWD models are entirelly diffferent in the generation count. The RWD models are a platform all their own. As for FWD n-body's:

gen 1: 1985-1987
gen 2: 1988-1991
gen 3: 1992-1995
gen 4: 1996-1998
gen 5: 1999-2005

the FWD generation shifts are marked by the major changes in the vehicle design and appearance. The beginning of the 4th gens was marked by a slightly more areodynamic style, the change to the 2.4L and the change to OBDII. I was just commenting earlier that I didn't realize they updated certain interior components that lasted into the next generation vehicle. Usually, the interior is redesigned to accomodate the newer 'look' of the vehicle.

The fine line between generations is very blurred for Grand Ams between 92 and 98. The 95's got an upgrade in the rear suspension that carried over to the 96-98 years while the overall chassis stayed the same since 92. There was also a significant powertrain option and ECU change between 93 and 94.

which is true, but to the best of my knowledge the 4th gens were marked by the introduction of OBDII and the 2.4L. Although, yes, it can be very blurred when you take into account the various mechanical differences. Seeing as how the 3.1L was introduced into the N-body line with the '94 GA and carried up to the '98 model year, and prior to that the 3.3L was run from the '88-'93 model year, before that was the (shit, shit) 3.0L which ran from '85-'87. As for the 4 cylinder options . . . that would take a page by itself to go over, mostly just in the various Quad 4 motors.

The only point, though, that I'm standing stout on is that there have been 5 generations of the FWD GA. I'm not including the RWD seeing as how that was a totally different platform, and besides, when the RWD A-body became a FWD platform, mostly Chevy's an Olds were built on it.

But, just to clarify (mods can delete this crap should they think it unnecessary):

Gen2 FWD (1989-1991 )


Gen3 FWD (1992-1995 )


Gen4 FWD (1996-1998 )

I see your point, You and I are just looking at this in different ways, your looking at it from an FWD N-Body point of veiw where Im looking at it from a grand am point of veiw.

even still, really nice GA, man; I only wish my '92 was in that great of shape! She's a little rough 'round the edges!

Indeed, it's amazing how unblemished your car is. Mine's a year newer and I'm losing a square inch of paint in the usual spots in every car wash.
