Very nice... I wish I had access to more tooling stuff. I get by pretty well with a jigsaw and drill press, but a bandsaw sure would come in handy sometimes!

Glad to see someone knows what's up. I think you made a great choice of motors. With all the new stuff for them, namely the improvements we've seen with the intro of the 3500 there is very little we can't do with it.

What all do you plan to do with it?
            It\'s ugly, and turbocharged!
264 HP and 284 ft/lbs at the wheels(@9psi), power curve like none other!
And the transaxle to get it to the ground!

I give up. No exhaust manifolds will fit this thing, so I'm building my own:

A 3.4L in a Miata is a pretty crazy concept to begin with. I saw a Miata at the dyno and it dynoed 95.2whp, and it was a 5 speed!!! A 3.4L without anything done to it would be a HUGE improvement!

His previous engine was a turbo four, so you aren't talking about your normal Miata here.

Looking good. I assume they fit the car like a glove :-)

Are those 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" tubes? How are you going to make the collector?

Just a tip when working with the schedule 40 mild steel weld-els: clean the 1/2" or so of surface next to the weld with a wire brush or scotch-brite pad (both inside and out) to get rid of the green coating and expose the fresh metal. The cleaner surface will result in a much nicer weld. Plus, it won't smoke as much or smell as bad when you weld it. I found that if you only clean off the outside of the tubing, the green coating will leach through from the inside and contaminate the weld.

                                Check the pics!

Man, I was really concerned about space. However, I made the headers so tight to the block that I started to have problems with getting other things to fit, including the oil filter and Crank Angle Sensor (the parts dept. thought I was crazy to say that instead of a Crank Position Sensor). I think this is the last time the motor is going in! Woo Whoo!

I have a set of chrome valve covers. Scott (my engineer pal) says they're too bling-bling, but on the other hand spinners mesmorize me. Black or Chrome?
