here are some pics after having a suburban back into me last night just after i went through tech at mission.
the header pannel was pushed back over an inch. it rolled the fender back aswell, and if you look closly, you can see were it tore the fender apart just above the marker light. the headlight bezel is of coarse toast, and the hood and bumper got hit just enough that they have to be repainted.
i already have gotten another header pannel in decent shape, aswell as the headlight bezel. what i cant find is a z24 fender from an 86-87. the z24 fender is slightly different than any other cavy, and i have already checked out the only one i know of in a junkyard.
the realy bad part here is paint. as you can see in the pics, there is a lot of flake in it, and its not easy to match. couple that with the fact that the painter painted it the wrong color (when he was drunk) nobody knows the name of the color, let alone a paint code. basicly, i have to repaint the entire car.
now before anyone screams take it to insurance, ill say flat out, i cant. i had a signed tech card and had just signed the waivers (they state, not responsible for damages, insureance is void while at the track, ect) to race not even 10 seconds before this happened. even if i could go through insurance, my car would be written off becuase of the age. its not so much the money in parts that pisses me off, its the fact that i cant have the front end re-painted to match. the guy is paying for the damages, but i cant make the guy pay to repaint the enitre car.
