Hello Everyone. I'm new to the Forum world. Just figured I'd introduce myself.

I've read a few threads on some issues after searching from google. I figured that I should join and maybe contribute what I can.

    At the moment I have 4 running cars, Z24 w/ 3.1/282, GTP w/ 3.4/4T60e, Z34 w/ 3.4/284 and a Quad 4 GTZ.

I have more cars but most were bought for parts or past there prime. I will look at restoring my 91 GTP auto which is the only nice one? Dropped a valve then a hail storm pounded it. It has HUD and 8 way grey leather.

I plan to reuse the powertrains in other projects and recycle the rest. The salt up here in Alberta does a number on the cars with body kits.

    Thanks for reading. Chad Jager

Sorry to hear that the GTZ is in bad shape. They are getting kind of rare. I know people still want the cams for 2.4 twin cams. Some just need the engine! There are two on the Beretta site.

Mine is 90 which has the highest production numbers. The car itself is beat, bought it off of a friend who was going to wreck it. It runs like crap right now, dies out at the following rpm's 5,200 with no load, 4,800 in 1st, 4,500 in 2nd, 4,200 in 3rd, 3,900 in 4th and 3,500 in 1st. I was going to check the ignition then move onto the cam timing, the guy my friend bought it off of did some head work and might have made a mistake.

It was headin for the same fate as his '94 Grand Am. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jTpUnx7N6s
I bought the above grand am with the Beretta, I'll fix it so they can have some more fun and leave my other cars alone.

That is a bit odd. RPM is too high for a bad crank sensor. So you are going to fix the GA and the GTZ?

Grand Am - Did you watch the video? It's worth it. I'll just fix the cv's and sub frame maybe a new old rad. Do some more field runs. The car was not road legal, it did not pass a road worthy inspection. But the 3100 is in good shape and the tranny is good.

Beretta - The body/interior are in horrible shape. I would like to reuse the motor elsewhere and I'd rather get it running in the car before I move it. I might look into it soon? We got 8" of wet snow last Friday and I could move the car.

I learned early that FWD's were not ment to jump. Old RWD's do it very well, I can tell you that for sure.
I think you guys may have bent the unibody.
Yeah the old 90 interior was junk when it came to the door panels. If you do a dash/door panel swap from a newer year that helps. Too bad the body is shot. Just remember that at a low price you can sell the engine and the trans(well the engine for sure). There are all kinds of parts that people want, even the wheels.

Yah. There is every kind screw holding the door panels/handles on. She's bad. I'm a hoarder. I won't sell anything, just buy and trade. Even if the motor is trashed the 282 wiring harness and gauges work. I can rebuild it. Would prefer running engines right now untill I get a cleaner work area to do the rebuilds.

Yah the unibody is trashed. Should be able to use a pull ram on the sub-frames and pull it back together. Some flat bar and we're good to go. Once it's toast I'll pull the engine tranny and harness and recycle it. Usually my brother and friends destroy these next to free cars before the camera gets turned on.

I'm pretty much taking any EFI GM performance FWD cars that are either worn out or on there last legs.

If it's road worthy I use it to commute to work 440 km one way (week in week out rotation). The '94 GTP is what I'm using right now but it has 390,000km and is in rough shape. The engine is perfect and original but the second 4T60e is acting up. Saves km on my truck not to mention the fuel savings. I paid $750.00 for it. Base leather, HUD, sunroof.
The Beretta was suposed to replace the GTP because it's better on fuel but with that rpm issue I don't want to chance it.

Oh yeah that Quad would get great MPG. Guess you could try the Quad site for help.

On the GA I'm talking about the body, not the frame. Do the doors open and close well?
There is a guy here in New York that rebuilds 4T60's by the way.

Yah not woried about the quad yet.

The doors open the damage is where the sub-frames bolt to the body below the firewall and under the cab. There is some tearage. When the suspension bottomed out the A-arms pulled the sub-frames out and back. There is a video called aftermath you can see how far the wheels were drove backwards. It was about 106 feet from wheels up to the oil pan crater.

I'm aways away from New York. Alberta Canada. I might try one. If I fail I'll put it by my 700r4 that i messed up.

Ok here are my 60 degree cars.

My current commuter, my 1994 GTP. LQ1/auto. Bought it off it's second/fourth owner for $750 last Oct. Sitting at 390,650 kms. It's rusted but runs good, getting about 23 mpg with me and my gear (needs a tune up), but off sets my truck at 9.8 mpg. It seems to take redline alright, been there a few times. The second tranny is starting to go at 107,000 kms. I have put 12,000 kms on it so far.

This is mt 1992 z34 LQ1/284. Bought it in Feb. It runs but needs some work, the clutch slips. The 284 is good and thats all that matters. I might fix it and throw it on the road. The GTP's tranny is on it's last legs.

This is the car my GTP replaced. Bought it Oct 2011 to commute to work. It is a z24 with the 3.1/282. Bought it for $950 at 250,000 and put on another 25,000 kms. The body was horrible but the engine was perfect, been on the rev limited smokin the tires plenty of times. It was getting 30 mpg hauling the same gear as the GTP. I will be using this powertrain to make my prototype tube buggie sometime in the future.

Here is my old 1989 z24 auto. I used this car when my good vehicles were not running. This thing has seen more abuse than most vehicles. It's in the field with it's 6th motor "dead". Don't worry all but one are rebuildable and are in my shed, testing the weak points of the 2.8 and 3.1's for my self. 2.8 fail on the top end and my 3.1's were the rods.

Here is my old GTP. '91 with the LQ1/auto. Dropped a valve at redline, there was aluminum sprayed out and embedded onto the air cleaner. I was going to fix it but a wind storm blew the hood open, onto the windshield which pulled the fenders up.

I have many more vehicles. Some are good some are bad and some donated their engines to the 89 cavalier, big mistake.

Man what the hell is with GP's losing their driver's side fender flare?
The GTZ almost looks normal. Front spoilers always seem to get killed.
Is that a MF tractor I see and what could be a IH next to it?
Sorry, will have to check the other photos later.

Yah. We had a near record snowfall this year. The snow got in behind 3 of the flares, thawed then froze and popped them off of the body. Wind took care of the rest.

The interior is bad on the GTZ and there is rust under the body kit.

The rusty one is a 1954 D case that my grandpa bought new. The painted one is a A/C from around the same year ish, my dad bought it awhile ago. There is also the case 870 beside the Berretta and the 2290 in the background. We have a massey but it's not in the pics. We don't use it the hydraulic pump is shot, it's a super 90 on propane. We also have a pair of internationals, a 856 and a 986, just out of the pics. The 856 is the best IMO.

I can see how that can happen to the flares.

I have family members that sold IH's many years ago. Love the A/C!

Yeah rust is a major problem on Berettas.

Yah the 856 has about 16000 hrs and runs like a top. Can see it in the background here. The '56, '66 and '68 internationals are gettin hard to to find. A few smaller '06 and lots of '86.

Was hoping that it was going to either have a stronger motor or have a better body. Oh well, had to remove his atenator and bring my own rims (from my z24). It does run but sounds like a valvetrain issue. It has the 284 but it's blown.

I plan to pull the tranny and check it out. Might give me a better idea in the future on which 284's could be repaired. It doesn't grind, 1st through 4th work fine but 5th is hard to find and R feels like 4th or 5th?

                            We will see.
