Greetings all! Found this site while looking for possible performance builds on my wife's 03 Impala with a 3400. Hoping that this will help me accomplish my goals of keeping the 3400 "stock" look, but enable me to put a little bit of power under the hood for her. We do a lot of car shows with Wicked Effects Car Club out of PA so, having something off the wall would do me some good.

Only picture I have right now of it. Going to have to take some shots once we get her ready for Daily Driver division in few weeks. I'll post updates in my gallery until I learn the system here.

Welcome! How far do you want to go with it? N/A? Turbo?

Question for whomever since it is a W-body does this mean the LA1 is paired with a 4T65? non HD if so?

From talking with the wife, she wants to go turbo or supercharged (depends on which I can build stronger) the engine is an LA1 but I believe it is not the 4T65. That from all my research only came as an option on the 3800.

Yeah then it is a 4T45. That'll be your first problem. Either beef it up with blue clutch packs and some other things that Idk or swap the 4T65. Turbo is the route to go for most. Sounds like you got a pretty awesome wife!

Nice another 3.4 impala going turbo, hopefully you finish before me so I can steel your routing ideas for pipes and such haha

Launching at WOT from a dead stop is the hardest on a trans. Power + inertia are not the friends of a fwd transmission. Gradually building power (like a turbo) is easier on it than instant neck snapping torque (like a roots s/c).
