  • Looking at a '94 Cutlass conv. w/ 3.4 DOHC, Help!

    Hi Guys,
New to the site and new to the 3.4 DOHC engines, I'm looking at buying a '94 Cutlass Convertible, 79,000 miles very clean, always stored inside and never driven in MN winter. Excellent records on oil changes, new tires, no rips, nice leather, no rust, stored for the last 4 years, started but not driven...........But, the timing belt has NEVER been changed, original alternator, Trans never serviced, I need to drive it 250 miles to get it home. Am I looking at trouble or can this be a good deal @ $3800???
Please I need some advice from you guys that own these cars/engines. I read online that they run forever if well maintained but timing belts should be replaced every 30,000miles. The other thing I read is the alternator is a problem as well as an oil pump seal (if I remember right) the seal is not a matter of if it fails but wnen.
Looking to use this as a summer driver.

    Thanks,

    Dan
