I know Roberts hydraulics will work fine since Woody, the other spec user had the setup that GM started to regulate and slow the release speed down after getting so many return customers for parts breaking... They tried to reduce the ability to dump the clutch, and needless to say that really causes an aftermarket clutch to cook.

Never said the flywheel wasn't re-usable, I just think the other one with the 3 heavy heat marks are not "normal" thats the sign of something slipping bad if your producing that much heat, and needless to say it was slipping bad. Roberts clutch roughed up the pressure plate pretty good because yes that is the semi metallic side of the clutch. But who cares, it's all getting replaced with a better setup.

New flywheel is better anyway up or down, imho.

The slow releasing hydraulic clutch: I think I read somewhere people were drilling out a restriction hole put in place to aid in clutch "comfort" engagement. With the restriction shifting into 1 or 2 was fine but people would miss 3rd under wot shifting quickly.

When I built the hydraulic clutch for my 5 speed, I made sure there were no restrictive points for fast response at the slave.

But that is something I read and never encountered it myself personally.

Steep hills and a clutch, can be a pita at times. I live in a very hilly city, Pittsburgh PA. I want to install a handle operated e-brake by the shifter for such occasions. It would be nice to hold brakes with the right hand while working the clutch on a steep hill.

Pistons all cleaned, awaiting rings... once I get those I can get the lower end together. I'll get some pics up then since nothing has changed really.

Well apparently the postal bitch never left me a notice saying there was a package at the post office for me, so the rings have been sitting there since the 9th... I will be headed there this afternoon to rip them a new one. This is the third time this bitch as screwed me over with packages and notices. I'm going to find out the process of filing a complaint to the postal service for her performance.

Thank you for the tracking number Ben. I appreciate it.

i've bitched countless times about the shitty service with the mail delivery around here and it always fall on deaf ears. last year i had a problem with the lady scanning the packages in before she left the post office but not actually delivering them and then when i went to ask them about it since with the tracking number it said it was delivered to my house they couldn't find it. took them like 3 days supposedly it got misplaced in the post office. needless to say i was pissed.

Got the headers and the rings yesterday and did some work...

Quit a bit early, didn't want to be out all night. But here is what I got done so far.

I was re-reading the recipe for a hot 3x00 build and there was a note in there for a drop of blood from a psycho... Hope mine will do... lol

Short block with crank scraper installed.

going to finish up the timing components tomorrow or Wednesday night then clean up the head gasket surface and get the heads on... Then do the timing cover and get the oil pan on... well I hope to get that far

Those green bristle brushes work really well on the block, I think the Yellow would be good for aluminum since it can barely take paint off of the engine block.

Those headers are impressive looking. The TCE double chain looks at home, I want one...lol

Is modifying the crank the only required mod to use a TCE double?
