And to clarify the tensioner question what I mean is the center dampener the one for the 2000+ narrow chain is just a bit wider and doesn't fit the double roller chain well, the one for the 99 and older 3100's with the wider chain fits in there perfect, so I'll be using that.

I use razors often as well. I learned to put a magnet to the back side, aids holding the small blade and prevents the blade falling into places we don't want it too. Imagine, a loose blade....nightmare. Or even worse, a small corner piece chipped off and lands between the piston and cylinder wall.
I need to get some of those pads, never used them before.

If all goes well and the ground isn't white after I build it I'll have a week of tuning to do on it so yeah there will be vids
All these part changes are pushing it back though so I'm gonna have to pick up the pace once I get everything.

Cool, Thanks Ben.
And don't know if those are cracks never noticed it till you just said that they may not be since they are not visible on the other side, but yeah that flywheel can be reused, but he sent me up a fresh cut OEM GM one rather than having this Chinese one surfaced and re-used.
The Napa I went to also only had the yellow bristle disc, but I think that should be fine, I don't have any aluminum parts to do.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 11-07-2011, 01:48 PM.

Did the pressure plate side get some sort of contamination in there or is that glazing? I didn't think glazing would be white. It also looks like that chinese flywheel couldn't take the heat too well.
As far as the razor blade use goes, I use the normal utility knife style since I have them on hand. I also hold them with my bare fingers. If I catch something enough for the blade to hurt my finger (and I don't mean cutting my finger with the back side), then I'm pressing too hard, or there's a burr or something there that I need to take care of. I hardly press down on aluminum, though, since I take great care not to gouge anything, even iron.Last edited by pocket-rocket; 11-07-2011, 03:11 PM.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

That's glazing on the pressure plate... it looks white in the camera photo but it's not quite that color in person. Spec Stage 2+ is made up of carbon semi-metallic on one side and Kevlar on the other, The semi Metallic side faces the pressure plate so I'm sure that's why it has a very odd look to it. Similar to a cooked rotor.
It could have some grease contamination from the input shaft, but I'm not positive on that... all I know is he had a bad run in with shift cables and during that incident he thinks this damage is what happened.
This is another Bnet user who had a spec Stage 2 clutch and it was slipping from having slow releasing hydraulics when he was trying to shift quick at the strip... I think that's a stock GM flywheel but I could be wrong.
Spec said mine looked normal, other than the glazing on the disc (from when it was slipping at the track).

That's just down right scary looking O.o I can't imagine how it would have smelled going down the track. Wait, I've smelled clutch burn before, never mind, lol.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

that flywheel is "normal" from what ive seen in my time. looks like some drops were done with a slow release for a while, how ever, if it was a metalic disk, i've seen some really deep grooves upwards of a 1/8", and the flywheel was still re-usable after a cut. its amazing though what a new good qualitly master and slave will do. sometime you will think the master isnt hooked up!
Its runs!!!>>>Aint No 60* Sound Like Mehttp://youtu.be/YKEmNwa141U
