  • New guy from NE Ohio and my Circle Track Monte Z34

    Hey everyone...
I am from NE Ohio. I have had a 60* GM since I could drive. Most of my time has been behind the wheel of one of the multiple Fieros I have owned. 2 85GTs, 1 85 SE, and a 86 SE 2M6. I was a member of PFF since back in 1999. Although I never go there anymore because of the close minded trolls. Its annoying when people complain about others not respecting their car (Fiero) for all it is then turn around and SLAM any and ever other vehicle. My Fieros range from stock to a 3800 Series II Supercharged.
I sold my last Fiero not long ago and miss them a lot. However the place we are renting now does not have a garage so i couldnt stand to see them rot away outside!
I joined this forum to get some knowledge about my current "toy". It is a 97 Monte Carlo Z34. It was hit in the rear, bent the lower lateral arms, busted the strut, rolled the frame/bumper support under towards the trunk and bent all kinds of metal in the trunk area. With a sledge hammer, some plate, and a 40$ bumper assy from Pull-A-Part it looked like it could have been a daily driver... However we stripped it, hacked the exhaust off, installed a crash bar, remote battery, hood and trunk pins, and welded the doors shut. This baby is now a circle track enduro machine!! We run in the Crash-A-Rama/Car Warz Enduro series at Holland Speedway in Holland, NY and Lake Erie Speedway in Erie, PA.
Her first run was last weekend and she did AMAZING. It was my FIRST time on a track and it turns out the Monte and Me are GREAT at making left turns!! I was leading another member of my team who ended up taking 3rd place when my engine went down. First place for that night took home $4k!!
Not sure what happened to the engine but she started running BAD, got hot (no HOT dummy light yet but hotter then i wanted), and i shut her down. Afterwards we opened the hood to oil all over belt side and coolant too. The coolant looks like its all over the front head (popped gasket??)
I want to rebuild her to be able to run HARD at HIGH RPM!! I am having Ryan @ Sinister reprogram my PCM and am thinking of having Steve whats-his-name do my Cams. Not sure what else is available though... Haven't found JACK for the car... Rods, pistons, valve springs, rockers..... NADA!
If anyone has any info id LOVE to have it!

    Thanks guys!

      Welcome to the site

Here is an article that have information that will help your engine turn into a high RPM screamer:

You will be amazed at the difference cam timing makes, and you already have the right intake on it for a screamer

Can she tske long periods at HIGH rpm?? Like an hour and half non stop? That's a big concern I have too.

That's a good question. No doubt use really good oil. Lucas might be a good thing to put in there as well. Mine has lifter tick like you wouldn't believe when it starts and after I've run it hard, although mine doesn't have the top end oiling update on it either, but the engine I have that's going in does.
