It depends if you have a pushrod or DOHC engine. Pushrod engine, no. The cam is in the block and the timing is never disturbed. DOHC, yes. The cams are in a housing bolted to the heads and all of it, including the timing belt, needs removed.

Yes, take apart and put back together. Make sure to keep the pushrods in the right order as intake and exhausts are different lengths. Run a tap down the holes that bolt the LIM down, and follow the torque sequence on this site to the T. As for the potential of a 3400, it depends on how far you want to take it N/A you get get over 200 hp, boosted you can easily get over double that reliably as others have done. One do, use the metal "problem solver" LIM gaskets when you replace the leaking ones.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

No idea on the top speed of my Lumina, the speedo only reads 110mph
The gaskets should hold, depending on how much pressure you are stuffing in your engine. What you should upgrade also depends on how much boost you are running. On around 7-8 with a good tune (very much required no matter what boost level you run) you could get away on stock internals. I believe others have gone higher on stock internals, but again, the good tune is stressed and can't be stressed enough if you want the engine to survive. Injectors need to be upgraded for sure if you run boost, as well as if you were running a healthy N/A build.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.
