  • engine bay detailing, opinions wanted

well, since there is no area for appearance on the forum just yet, i'll post this in here for now, or until otherwise moved.
I have my drive train out of my 05 montecarlo, its metalic gold in color, and all accents, body panels, fillers are black, rims are stock color, being machined and silver. my question is i'm having troubles deciding on the color of my block and tranny, as i dont want to leave the trans bare aluminum, and the block rust/black. i was thinking of doing a old school color theme of the block orange, but them i dont know what to do with the trans color that would look good and not flashy or out of place, i think the old school color use to be light blue, but i think that might look like crap IMO, and black just looks lazy and out of place.
I do a very nice job with this detail, i do a primer, base, and clear coat all with a gun, and the finish is top notch. So the idea to think about this prior is worth it, the valve covers will be polished aluminum, and the intake i'm not quite sure, maybe just a polished 3400 sfi, or matched to lower intake color which is still undecided. possibly bare aluminum with 'shark skin' coating, heads will be bare aluminum aswell.
I'm after a professional, not a flashy look, i dont plan on having various different colors in the engine bay, i hope to get black plug wires, but might only be able to get red MSD's, intake tubing will be painted black, and have black rubber connectors. the only thing out of place in the engine bay is the red optima battery, which i suppous i could 'properly' paint, or make a aluminum cover.
this is how it sits now in the Burrr~nesss

and this is how the motor sits, in the Basement~nesss

    all opinions welcome

So color match the engine and trans to your car's major color. It would be extra cool if the water pipes could be brassed and polished. That, along with all the black rubber and plastic would definitely give it some old school style in a modern engine bay.

Moved to the area dedicated to talking about your car, non-engine specific. This is the only area you will ever get...

Paint is not maintenance. Paint is cosmetic.
