  • Help ID Engine

Greetings and salutations. I come in peace and I bring you good tidings.

I am working on a swap. I have a 69 or so MGB with a GM V6 engine.

I need help in identifying this engine. I am hoping it's a 3.4.

What information can I provide you Guys to help me? The only number I can readily see is 061L / 3

    Here are some pics

I hope to have the engine and trans out this weekend to hopefully start the rebuild if it's a 3.4

it SHOULD be near the starter.

if i had to venture a guess though, based on the numbers from the side of the block, it sounds like a 2.8, and an old one at that...

if you manage to find a string of numbers, try searching them in here:

F-body 3.4 motors had block casting numbers of 11018608 and 24504089.

I see. It is an old conversion so it could very well be an old type.

The conversion kit can use up to the 3.4L engine (60 degrees), is this still a decent engine with decent power or should I instead look for a 3.4 which is the highest horsepower 60%

for a simple upgrade, yes a 3.4 from either a 93-95 camaro or firebird would be your best bet.
