Hey. I've browsed the site before, but now that I actually own a car with a 60* engine I finally decided to join. Just picked up a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am SC/T as my new daily driver, and I love it!

I also own a 1990 Grand Am SE (2.3 Quad4 High Output, old daily driver) and a 1970 Pontiac LeMans (resto/project), but you guys don't care about those, right?

Thanks! Yeah the '90 is a fun little car to drive. If you can find a Grand Am (or any other car with that engine for that matter) buy it, because it'll probably be a while until you find another one haha. I know I'm having a hell of a time even finding a base Grand Am for parts, let alone a SE with the Quad 4.

So I should keep the white one that belongs to my wife's cousin since he has no interest in it. The only down side is I don't think it's a HO (I know it's not a W41 for sure) and it's got an auto :/

Well if it was auto from the factory it's not a HO. If you wanted to take the time you could do a swap though. If it's a regular Quad, don't quote me on this, but I think you can just swap the top end and basically have a HO engine.

no, i think the pistons are different from LO to HO

but yeah high outputs are the only ones i'd be interested in. they only ame in 5 speeds and 180hp 4-banger ftw. and there were no W41's in the GA's either, that was an olds-only thing....

Well as for doing a swap from low to HO its strait forward. swap out old head with 086 and than swap low cam's for ho cams. keeping a low bottom end give's you a 9:5.1 compression instead of the HO bottom end witch gives you 10:0.1's not much diff. You won't notic the power gain of half a point in compression. and as for the swap might as well swap in a set of W41 cams while your in there lol i did in my 93 Ga factory Ho car. I do plan on opening up the exhaust manny and exhaust to get that thing to really breath sometime soon

w41 need every bit of compression you can get...those cam have zero torque.
