It happens... My car has been at the shop for a week getting the rear end replaced after they messed it up last month. A few mis-adjustments by the installer turned my Richmond 3.73's into a pile of shavings.

Ohhhh noooooo. You did give the rear 500 miles of easy break-in? That's crucial.

"It's your car. Do with it what you wish, but as you enter this unknown world you will need to invent the wheel all over again. For the adventurous and those that are backyard mechanics who have nothing but time you might like this. Most have plenty of frustrating moments and the process usually takes significantly longer then what anyone could imagine. The end result of this conversion is completely up to you." - Jon McCullough of BMCautos.com

            • i put around 100 miles on it, including 2 runs on the dyno... It sounded like a tornado siren going off behind my head on the way to the shop.

              • Sounds like it wasn't set up right from the beginning. It should be quiet from the get-go.

                • Come on Dave you should set up your own rear's... They are quite easy to do actually... just very time consuming and make sure your press is next to where your working so swapping pinion shims isn't a walk across the house like it is when I'm doing the race car. Also get a good amount of gear mesh grease.

                    • I don't have a press, and my "good" Craftsman jack pukes all over the floor every time i use it so the shop seemed like a good option.

It's supposed to be done tomorrow, the commander 950 ECU should be here by this weekend so i'll get to re-tuning and hopefully to the track on the 2nd.

                      • Make a press Dave! You know...when you're board.

I found my coolant temps were off. They were jumping around from 250-300 degs. Back to tuning.

                        • Got it back today, quiet as can be!

Of course it had to act up on the way home, the cooling fan decided not to turn on at all and when i clicked the override switch the interior lights would shut off... haha

Also, the headlights wouldn't turn on. It's gotta be a ground somewhere, i checked them all tonight and of course it decided to work fine in the garage.

                          Just for kicks...
