...To make a long story short a friend's ex left him with this '89 RS Camaro when she took off... I'd seen the car a few times back when she was daily driving it around 2003 and thought to myself that i'd like to own it one day. My buddy wasn't planning on selling the car but i let him think about it for a few months.. And Today i drove it home.

This looks like a project that will be way too much fun for mortal man... and no issues of "roominess" for aggravation if you decide later on to Turbocharge the car ala "Tiago" style. My only concern Dave, would be that the Seller is actually holding a clear title to the machine and that his "Ex" does not come back to "Vex" you over who owns the thing.

    "Welcome to the Site..."

Jesus Palomino... I choked on my Oreo Cookie and had Cold Milk spurting out of my nose from laughing when I read THAT one... LOL

His ex is an old friend of my wife, all is good there.

I did just find out that i'll have to modify my trans crossmember for the 4L60E, no biggie there. Just putting good use to all the scrap metal i've been storing for years.

I'm thinking more and more about just using a 700R-4 and installing the transgo shift kit.

that would take any guesswork out about the flywheel and save me time on tuning and fabricating. Plus i already have a B&M Megashifter.. might as well use it :P

The RWD I can understand, it's going from manual v8 to automatic v6 that I don't get, I mean usually people do that the other way around :P

I raped an 11 sec v8 car to put parts on my car. Dave just hasn't turned his adventures into a business yet, that's when your car suddenly get's put on a back-burner

I was going to say, no where did you say they switched it to a 5-speed with the v8 swap. But I was waiting for you to chime in.

I don't think i'm going to use the tubular K member, a local guy wants it for his LSx swap and has offered me a nice trade deal. 2 Jegs "Sport Star" 15x4 skinnies with brand new Front Runners and some cash. This will help me to get a trans, converter and maybe a shift kit.

Then i'd just pick up some matching 15x10 or 15x8 for the rear to use with drag radials.

I did some measuring last night and it looks like i can just mod my stock K member for the needed pan clearance.

BTW, no pics but i pulled the rear end out last night. Dropping the gas tank tonight to get ready for the install of a Sy/Ty pump.

Picked up my 700R4 this morning, it's pretty clean. No idea on the miles but the fluid looks good. Came out of a 93 Camaro. 93 was the last true 700R4 in the Fbodies, 94 is when they started changing things.

It looks like i'll have no problems putting the FWD engine on this trans, there is no notch for the starter so i'll just have to modify a stock V6 flexplate cover.
