  • Hello from Fayetteville, Arkansas

Hello all, new to the site, and kinda new to GM 60* v6 engines. I owned a 1987 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport with a 2.8, and now own a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE with a 3.1. Hope to build on it soon, have plans for a turbo, a transmission swap if possible and a few other things. Will post a couple of pics here if that is ok?

My Celebrity (may it rest in pieces):

That's a nice clean car. Either someone took immaculate care of it, or the dealership has one good detailer, lol. Welcome to the site!

They had a good detailer, my Grand Prix had a hard life with the original owners. I have to replace a now cracking trailing arm on the right rear because one of the owners must have curb checked the hell out of it and bent it, now it is cracking on me. Plus, the engine was replaced under Carmart warranty because the original (clean) engine was leaking coolant at the intake and water pump, the intake gaskets were replaced, but it spun a rod bearing because the shop didn't change the oil and there was coolant in the oil. The current engine has half the millage of the car, but I need to replace a blown engine mount because the shop screwed that up too.

        I like those style spoilers.

Keep it clean! I've seen sooo many GP of that style get rocker rot!

Oh, I try to keep her clean, money is tight so I don't get to wash her as much as I used to. I have alot of plans for my car, including 17 inch wheels, GT side skirts and rear bumper, and dual flowmaster mufflers, high flow cat and a u bend delete.

WOW. That GP looks mint. Sucks about the repairs. Shit happens, and ya fix it. Beware of the dreaded LIM gasket leak.

I wish my Grand Prix was still that clean, it looks like crap right now, and I have some body work to get done when I repaint the car, a couple of friends of mine, their boss backed into me 6 months I think it was after I got the car. I would have let insurance fix it, but the body shops around here lately have been doing shoddy work, including one that had been the highest rated in my area. I plan to just fix it when I paint the car, have to replace the front bumper thanks to my uncle and step Grandfather cracking the plastics and scraping my paint up when they put the car on a trailer to tow it back to my mom's place when my fuel pump died, my car looks rough right now.

Here is the current list of mods made to my GP SE so far: I removed the honey comb aluminum from infront of the MAF, with no code thrown or funny business, K&N Filter, soon cutting the baffles from the airbox till I can afford something else, Nokia 2500K (Yellow) fog lights, Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs, and for a cheap way to boost power and mileage both, I cut my muffler off. I know it may not be the best thing in the world, as the car is louder, but it doesn't sound too bad (sounds better than my friend Dan's car when he cut the mufflers off his 1997 Grand Prix GTP, the 3.8 sounds funny...) and I now on the highway get 35+ MPG out of my Grand Prix, when I first got it, best I ever saw was 32-33 MPG. With out the muffler, it still isn't as loud as my 1992 Integra was when the muffler was ripped off it by a chunk of tire on the highway. Pics will follow after this to show what my poor GP looks like at the moment.

Here is the car as it sits at the moment, only slightly cleaner:

Here you can see the damage the trailer did to my car when the fuel pump died on me, and the yellow fogs:

My roommate's S10 next to my GP:

Those so far are all the current pics. I will take more now that I debadged the side of the car.

Debadge all of it! I've always liked the W-body GP's. I know the back can be setup for dual mufflers, but the LG8, like the LA1, sounds secks with the Flowmaster 80. It's technically an F-body muffler, so it's a crossflow type (transverse) and I'm not too sure if there's space under there for it. If not, get the Magnaflow mufflers, they sound just as nice. Throw up a glasspack in place of the stock resonator, it cuts down on the rasp, and deepens the exhaust tone.

Well, I plan to get the GT rear bumper and sideskirts, the GT bumper has cut outs for dual outlet exhaust.

and the damage to the front thanks to my uncle not taking it easy putting my car on or taking it off the trailer when my fuel pump died:

This is all after I debadged the car.
