Hello from a newbie. I am new to the 60 degree motor V6. What vehicles do I look for at the junk yards for a 1990 3.1 Camaro motor that will have HO cylinder heads? The motor I got from a friend who put the 3.1 in a S-10 and ran local dirt track with it until he rolled it. The 3.1 has Edelbrock headers, cam, intake manifold & Holley 390 cfm 4 barrel carb. I would like some cylinder heads that breathe better and maybe a little more horsepower. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
Do you want to know what a Johnny Cash truck is? ( That is what my friends at the local Napa store called it and the name stuck )
I combined a 1959 Dodge pick up cab with a S-10 front and rear clips and then added the 1990 3.1 Camaro drivetrain and a 1961 International pick up bed. The truck sat too high in the back. So I cut the rear frame and Z'd the frame to bring it lower and level. I had to notch the firewall to get the engine to sit right. I used the power booster and swing pedal from a 1985 Blazer and a 1971 Nova steering column, wheels and tires from a 1984 Pontiac, a custom made electronic gauge panel, a homemade 38" tall old school floor shifter with a custom made Bubbahotep skull shift knob; AND of course; PAINT by RUSTOLEUM. I took two old air cleaners and made custom snorkels and made my own Ram Air set up. These where all vehicles and parts I had laying around out back. The county told me my yard was an eye sore, so before I cashed in the scrap metal; I created a vehicle from a pile of parts. I guess I was "GOING GREEN " by recycling as much as possible. My wife calls the vehicle, BUBBAHOTEP. This vehicle has been the most fun building in all of my 56 years ! It runs great and drives straight and gets a lot of attention and comments AND SMILES. It does great burnouts !!!
If anyone is interested I'll try and take some pictures.
NOW, I want more horsepower !!!!! Thanks for listening. Bruno
