My name is shawn, im from PA but im in iraq right now, ill be home in mid sept, and im lookin to fix up my car, right before i left for iraq, i came across this 87 cavalier, i only drove it for about 2 months, but it runs well, i want to give it more horsepower, but i am basically illiterate when it comes to those things, i mean i can tear an engine apart, but with mods and whatnot, i feel stupid, I am basically asking for possible tips or ideas, some people i know have said turbo, and others have said not to go that route, the car had flowmaster exhaust on it when i bought the vehicle, and its still on there, either way, i got the car for $300, so if there isnt anything i can do, i still have a good running car, dirt cheap, thanks, any help is greatly appreciated

Welcome! Your best bet would be to swap in a 3x00 engine, preferably a 3400 or 3500. That will give you an instant HP increase and opens the door for a lot more mods than there is available for the Gen 2 engine currently in the car.-Brad-

Yup. What SuperDave said. Lots of info over there.
'87 Z24? Oooooooo, I hate you! J/K I hope to own one some day. I think I've got the only first gen here except for that one elusive '86 Z coupe which I only saw one time. Waiting for it to hit the junk yard Even if it's not lookin' the way you want I'd love to see pics of it sometime......of course when you get back. Take care, soldier.
